My God! This thread is now 11 pages long, and riddled with "hand to hand" combat. I think it's about time the mods locked it down for good.
Palm vs. PocketPC...Mac vs. PC....Linux vs. Windows....Coke vs. Pepsi, it never ends. Each side believes theirs is the superior choice. It all comes down to personal preference. Nothing more, nothing less. Each platform has it's advantages:
PalmOS = Simple, elegant, intuitive OS, with stylish glamorized hardware. Very wearable. Lots of easy to use third party software.
PocketPC = Powerful, multimedia savvy, OS. Better compatibility with Windows/Outlook. More advanced features. Large, clunky, awkward hardware. Lacks the elegance and style of the Palm in both software and hardware. Far less third party software support, but more robust applications...especially Games.
I'm not going to go into a detailed feature per feature comparison, because that would take too long, and this thread has already reached the breaking point. My advice is to use what feels most comfortable you. If you want all the fancy features and don't mind the bloat...go with PocketPC. If those bells and whistles don't appeal to you, and you prefer something from the light menu...go with PalmOS. Beyond that, there really isn't any need for argument or chest beating. What I don't understand is why people, on both sides of the fence, operate under the false assumption that these platform debates will reach some sort of conclusion? As if, by page 25, we are all going to say..."Oh my God, Mr. X was right! Palm's do suck! I'm going to run to my nearest Best Buy and get a PPC."
It puzzles me why so many users (both Palm and PocketPC) feel the need to act as salesmen for their platform of choice. I was reading LockerGnome's daily report, in which Chris Perillo (who I think is a total Microsoft shill) was bragging about his success at converting yet another Palm user to PPC. In his own words.."Another Palm user bites the dust!". Why? Does this give people some sort of thrill? I don't go around preaching the gospel on my M505 to the masses. Last week I was in Staples, browsing through the array of new PDAs. One of the redshirts was engaging two customers who seemed to be interested in acquiring a PDA(s). I always enjoy a good laugh, so I coyly slipped nearby to listen to the salesperson's advice to the couple. I didn't hear everything, but I heard one juicy comment that nearly had me launching across the counter to strangle him. He said, quote: "The Palm PDAs are nice and all, but the truth is they will probably be out of business soon. Everything is switching over to PocketPC. Palm is kind of like the Mac". I'm still Not sure what "Everything" is, but apparently he's convinced it's switching over. As angry as I was, I initially dismissed his comments as the ramblings of yet another untrained retail salesman. But then I discovered his true motives for making those slanderous comments. "This is what I use", he said...as he pulled a Jornada out of his pants pocket.
The couple didn't buy a PDA, thank God. But it pisses me to no end when someone, in a professional capacity, uses their position as a soapbox to dupe the masses by spreading FUD about a competing platform. It would be equivalent to a Mac salesman at Circuit City telling new customers to stay away from the PCs because the whole WinTel industry will go out of business soon. Sad.

I agree with Foo, neither platform is better.. they are DIFFERENT.
People tend to convince others in order to justify their buy I guess.
this thread will keep returning I'm afraid so locking it down would have little effect and we don't want to sensor this board.
I just have a request: keep it civilized. people have different opinions, respect that and try to get your point across with good arguments, not with namecalling...
