I was thinking, on so many polls the post maker always says "Oh I should've written" or "Oh look at that typo". So how about preparing your post with a thread beforehand. Or not?
I'll start now:

I'm going to have a poll "What desktop OS do you use?"
Windows 95, 98, Me (3 different or one choice?),
Windows NT, 2000
Mac (I don't know the different versions)
Linux
Other

I know I'm forgetting stuff, help me out!

polls.

I have a natural love of polls coming from my love of statistics. I love statistics a lot more when they are valid. Which means I only sometimes love polls on VC.

Unfortunately I think this board is mostly for chat and not so much for making real numbers, your idea is too much for a chat board.

I would love to get some good numbers off of VC, I'd like to see a VC user survey over e-mail, and have it correlated to how long people have been on the board, posts per month etc...

Among other things I'd love to see a poll of VC sent to HS, saying that 70% of our users feel that HS should immediately start using flash memory, etc.

I'd lump Windows 95, 98 and ME together. If it were me, I would also leave slots for Windows XP beta , BeOS, and Amiga, just for fun. Then again, maybe XP could go with NT & 2000...

I would also make sure to include verbage to specify that you want the primary system that people use. I know people that have home networks that are a mix of Linux, Win 9x and NT.

Oh, and one more bit of unsolicited advice: don't trust that people will read your post before they vote. Make sure that the question above the choices says everything that you want to say.
