Unhappy Just shoot me now...

I am in Statistics Hell... I have two research papers due, and 10 stat problems that are giving me gray hair (okay, more gray hair...)

Please put me out of my misery, or at least give me a little sympathy...

Smile Thanks!

I appreciate the kind words... I just finished the stat problems, now for the research papers. I locked up all sharp objects, just in case...

The sad part is, I will probably never use about 90% of this stuff.

Oh no, was that a statistic?

I don't know which is worse, dealing with those stats, or having a mom getting a degree using them.

The latter isn't so fantastic.

Thanks miradu! Nice to be back...

Papers aren't that bad, just drink lots of Coca-Cola and make sure to have at least 1 pound of candy available..

Okay! I could go for a hot fudge sundae right now! Hmm, maybe not.... I still would have to face the scale.

oh wait.. no college papers are icky. my bad.

Icky is not quite the word I would use right now. Maybe they used term papers as a medieval torture device?

Good luck, email me when you have had some sleep..

I will... Night...zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Ummm.. sadistics, I remember it well (and calculus too, oh the bad memories), I always though integrals and such looked like satanic writing, like somehow if I wrote something the wrong way by accident I would summon the devil.. I mean, Just look at this , doesn't it just look evil (yes I know it's a calc problem) : http://math.stcc.mass.edu/mcdonald/...Problem%206.gif

Doesn't it look like the work of the devil??

You may be right! I could imagine a Python skit on the Spainish Inquisition, but instead of using "comfy cushions" they would use the "standard deviation."

Inquisitor: "What is the standard variance? Confess!"
Prisoner: stammers "I don't know, I don't know!"... whimpers
Inquisitor: "You must confess! What is the standard deviation?"
Prisoner: Screams, and faints...

See, it does sound evil...

Great chart! I'm going to print it and put it on my wall...

Thanks for all the support folks. I finished both papers around 11:30 last night (made the midnight deadline by a hair...) Now the wait to see what grade I get.

They think it's a scream and had a lot of fun teasing me about it this morning. But my oldest is going off to college in a few months, so payback is just around the corner!

Late to the funsies

My dad is a statistian. He's always telling us about the statistician who drowned b/c the river was two feet deep on average.

(I know, I know, we groan whenever we hear it, too!)

How come I can't have parents who are statistians? I love the joke though, I'll have to tell that one to the class...

I have one more week of Hell, then the Final (where I will surely crash and burn...)

Keep those cards and letters coming!

I hated stats. Never really thought there was a practical use for it until I started studying digital signal processing (where it's used heavily in frequency analysis, if I remember correctly).

Still hate it, but at least there is a use for it.

Yeah, that's the scary part...

I would just blow it off, but it's a critical part of being able to interpret research data and I really need that extra skill.

I just wish it didn't make my brain hurt...

Put his head in the oven and his feet in the freezer. On average he'll be OK.
