replacement received
(followup to my earlier gripes)
Yesterday I called Customer Support, got an answer on the first ring, spoke to a very friendly representative and arranged a replacement with no problem at all.
The replacement arrived today (in Canada), less than 24 hours after my call! It certainly looks completely new, and has no scratches or marks at all. I noticed that the casting for the hard cover is different (the little feet are no longer hollow, mold marks are in different places), but other than that it is the same.
On the down side, there are some flaws in the new BVD:
- the little Handspring logo is missing from the top left corner of the front (there is a depressed area where it should go)
- there is already a small crack in the small channel behind the Springboard slot (where the hard cover snaps in)
I suppose I will send it back, and it has been very fast so I can't complain much (though I just did ;-)), but it seems pretty silly to have this apparently poor quality control.
Actually, I'm wondering if I should ask to pay the difference and receive a Platinum instead this time!?
