Digital Link Programming

Does anyone remember the programming sequence for the Wireless Web Digital Link? I have established an account with Bell Mobility, the 1900mghz CDMA provider in Canada, but they have no idea how to program my new number into the DL.

Lightbulb programming digital link

I just activated my phone, so here you go:

from the keypad screen, punch in

##728310

then tap on the call history button (bottom left corner, square on the far right.)

OK, really dumb question. Is it possible to program a second DL to the same phone number then?

I have a sprint PCS account but would love to have a second DL in my car so I wouldn't have to lug this thing around all the time. Would both ring at the same time?

Nope. Each phone has an individual ID called an ESN (End System Number, I believe) that uniquely identifies every phone in the world. In order to have two phones work identically, they both have to have the same ESN and phone number. However, in order to route calls to the proper tower properly, cellular providers need to keep track of where a given ESN is. Each time you power up/make a call with a phone it registers itself with the network, and overwrites the previous registration (this is a gross oversimplification, but you get the idea) so even with two perfectly identical phones (from a network perspective, model doesn't matter, just ESN and phone number) only one will ring.

Does this make sense?

Yeah, I actually sort of knew about the ESN thing, but since I have heard about ESN 'cloning' I figured it might be worth an ask. Thanks!

Activation Programming

Punching in ##728310 and tapping call history just takes me to call history. There must be a step missing.

I just did it twice on mine and it worked both times. I switched to keypad mode (the center mode of the three), punched in just ##728310 without pressing any other keys then tapped the call history square. You may have to be quick about hitting call history after hitting 0. I tap the whole thing out in the space of a second or two.

You HAVE to tap the screen. I know that the phone hard button will toggle the modes. Using that button does NOT Work.

There's also an app on the module that gets hidden after the initial activation. IIRC, it's called "Activation". Using a utility like Filez, you can unhide it so that it appears in the app launcher so it can be run.

Hmm; still not working. What do you see after going to the Call History screen?

Perhaps there is a lock code missing from mine. I note that if I go to Menu-Options-Activation with the DL powered up it asks for a Sprint PCS lock code. Does anyone know if this is the same number for all DL's or specific to each phone or Sprint account?

If we can get this to work, then all of those free DL's languishing in the US will be saleable in Canada!
