Question

For the technically incompetent....how do I go about connecting my 2035a to my Visor dlx for grabbing e-mail? I am starting from scratch and haven't purchased anything yet, but doing some web surfing, and looking at the cable it appears to have a connection for the phone and a serial connector on the other end. The Visor modem appears to have a normal phone jack. What exactly do I need to get and how do I set things up to function? Thanks in advance!

Kyocera 2035a / Visor deluxe connection

One way to do it is to:
* Get the Kyocera data cable, the one that connects it to a PC
* Get a DCH-M9D from Mark/Space (www.markspace.com)

You can connect the kyocera to a Visor with that combination.

Can the set up work without the software bundle? Do you just plug in the cord, and blammo! I'm online with blazer, avantgo, email? Using as a modem, can I dial into my regular dial up ISP (WT.net), or use the working phone as the provider? Please give detailed instructions....

thanks!

Question

does the phone actually work as the modem, then, and is there any special set up for the phone once I have the cables all connected?

Connecting

I am not sure about that Kyocera model, but I have used a Handspring Visor and a Palm Vx with the popular motorola and samsung phones and setup is a breeze.

All you have to do is go to Preferences - Network and enter the data dialing instructions for your service provider (these should come with the cable). After that, I would open AvantGo and tap Menu - connect and I was connected. The trick is knowing your service provider's info.

Thumbs up kyocera 2035/2035a + vdx

Go to www.thesupplynet.com for the Kyocera cable-Visor deluxe cable. Connects directly from phone to Visor, is only about 8 inches long, costs $39.95 + shipping. Company even sends instructions on how to set up the Visor for connection. I personally use this setup with my Prism all the time + my Verizon service (you do NOT need to sign up for the internet capability to make this work, by the way), works like a champ.

Good Luck,

Henry

Connection instructions - Verizon and Sprint

Here are instructions for connecting to both Verizon and Sprint. They are not specific to any serial cable - i.e. so long as you have any cable which connects your Visor to the cell phone these instructions apply.

Kocera Data Cable

The Kyocera 2035 cellular cable is available from Supplynet, at www.theSupplynet.com for $39.95 and is in stock. For email software you can go to www.eudora.com or www.corsoft.net.

Another data cable source

Another option:

go to www.pcables.com

for the PDCH-M9D-6; in addition the Kyocera PC Data cable will be needed to interface the Visor Solo, Deluxe, Prism, or Platinum with the Kyocera 2035a.

I ordered the cable from thesupplynet.com, and it should come tomorrow. I am pumped! Surfing the web with my Prism, sending e-mail without having my Palm chained to the Visorphone.

Kyocera cable

We make a Kyocera2035 to Handspring cable. It's 8 inches in length.
It comes with the instructions. This will allow you to send & receive email and browse the web.
Works great. www.thesupplynet.com
