Your thoughts on the Innogear Minijam?

I'm looking at buying a MiniJam for my VPR and wanted to find out your experiences. The only module I have right now is the EM2 and I like that a lot.

1) How does the MJ work?
2) The one I'm looking at comes with a 64meg card. Can I buy a larger card? Or have two cards with music on each?
3) How do I get the music from my computer to the MJ?
4) What about the headphones that come with the MJ? Are they decent?
5) How long can I expect the batteries in my Prism to last while I am listening to the MJ?

Just a note, I just spent about a half hour reading James review and the assorted news stories relating to the MJ. My hopes are even higher now but I still want the real user experiences.

Please help me out.

ahh... buy the soundsgood at $150 if you can still find it. I had one and it was fantastic. Loading of music was much faster than the MJ, plus it is a lot smaller. Don't look back.

But the SoundsGood is not expandable is it? I just got through reading the "MJ vs. SG" on VC and they said that the SG only had 64 megs (static). The MJ is expandable and even allows you to hold 2 MMC cards at once.

most players on the market come with only 64MB. to me that's plenty - your results may vary, but if you are looking for mega-memory storage, get an Archos jukebox or the like. They are dropping down into the low 200s last time I checked... and you get at least 6 gigs, some have 20gig drives in them. Much better than hundred-or-so meg card, IMHO.

Not to mention, the minijam transfer time is almost double the transfer time of the SG if I recall correctly, and it already takes about 5 minutes to DL 64MB onto the soundsgood as it is... With 2 64MB cards, that's gotta be at least 15-20 minutes to transfer...

Plus, ask a few folks here about Innogear. You'll get an earful...

I'll chime in. I love my Minijam. I've got 2 64meg MMCs and get about 2 hours of music on those. I also bought the MMC reader that Innogear sells and I don't think it takes me 10 minutes to load a card up. The earphones are fine, nothing special. I agree that some of the new MP3 players are great, but if you want everything in one piece...

In addition, I bought the case that Innogear and Vaja designed together for the minijam, so it is often my stay in module, and it's got almost another meg of free space in RAM.

By MMC card reader do you mean the SpeedLoader? I was looking at that too. It sounds like it would be a no-brainer.

Love my MiniJam also. I too have 2 64mb cards and have found that at 128kbps I get about 2+ hours of music. I also have the speedloader, which is a must if you change the music on the card often. I found that before I had the speedloader, I was only changing the music on the card every month or so (ya, it did get boring to listen to the same songs over and over). Ever since I started using the speedloader, I change a card's music selection every couple of days.

I bought the MJ early in MJ timeline... I preordered... with the promise of being able to store non-music data on the mmc, but that never came to fruition. I've found that it is by far the most used springboard I have (although the memplug is slowly taking over that top spot).

Being limited to 1 hour of music on the SoundsGood module would have been too prohibitive for me, because of the length of my commutes. If 1 hour of music would have been good enough for me, I definitely would have gone with the Good player, for no other reason than the form factor.

Good luck with your decision. I really like the MJ that I have.

MINIJAM A+++

THE MINIJAM IS AWESOME FOR ITS USABILITY,DESIGN,AND DURABILITY.I HAD A SOUNDS GOOD AN FOUND THE HARDWARE BUTTONS TO BE USELESS AND THE LACK OF EXPANDABILITY A BIG DRAWBACK. TWO MMC CARDS WITH THE SPEEDLOADER WORKS GREAT FOR ME.

I WORKED AS A BETA TESTER AND HAVE AN EXTRA MINIJAM IN CLEAR WITH 64 MB MMC FOR SALE IF YOU ARE INTERESTED $175 COMPLETE..

My issues are with Innogear and not the MiniJam itself.. Do a search on minijam, I think I have said enough on the subject, I won't bore everyone again..

(FYI - Yes, I am a minijam owner, the SpeedLoader is a must, and oh, incase you are thinking about it , you can't use a "generic" mmc reader/writer btw.)

I LOVE MY MINIJAM! Go to palmgear.com/hs they have the 64MB minijam for $199 right now!!! Can't beat that. Yes its a bit bigger than the SG and is slower at loading.. but I LOVE MINE!

Yes, as everyone else noted, I did mean the speedloader, I just couldn't think of the name.

I also like that the MiniJam comes with peanutreader (or whatever it's called now) in the RAM and has room on it for several e-books.

Well, I bought one on eBay last night for $147.50. I feel that's a pretty good price seeing as how the new 64megs ones are over $200.

I can't wait to hear from the guy that I bought it from.
