Unhappy Deluxe slowing down

I have had my Visor Deluxe since April 2000, with relatively few unresolved problems. Recently, it has started to s l o w d o w n. It's like molasses. It's so unresponsive that it's hard to even use graffiti anymore. It also couldn't find the other device whenI tried to beam today (related?).

Anyone have a clue as to what's going on?

Thanks in advance for your wisdom!

Exclamation More slowness

Oooh, I have more evidence! Just now an alarm went off, and the tone was lower and the speed slower than the normal sound.

I'm getting pretty nervous, I just backed it up.

What gives???

Install a copy of dbScan, from the makers of DateBk4, and use it to scan for duplicate shortcuts. The PalmOS prior to v3.3 has a "bug" that creates 3 duplicate shortcuts everytime the device is reset. As the shortcuts database grows in size, this can lead to sluggishness like you describe.

I second what MarkEagle says. I think this is one of the least documented 'issues' with the PalmOS <= 3.1. I'm in the habit of running DBScan whenever I perform a soft reset.
