I don't have a palm, is it obvious there is one attached, or do you have to buy it seperatly ? If so, how do I write ?1

The Visor comes with a "chunk of plastic" shaped like a small pen. This is commonly referred to as a stylus. There are other stylus options that are more functional than the plastic one that comes with the unit. There is a silo in the unit to hold the stylus for transport and easy access.

Check out http://www.palmgear.com and look at the accessories there. Also HandSpring is offering a stylus "upgrade" with their color stylus pack. It offers a removeable tip that houses a reset pin and the other side reveals a screwdriver.

I have a stylus that is the size of a small pen. It does not fit in the Silo on my Palm III, but it does fit in the leather case I have for it. It is a multi-function pen. Therfore I can change tips between Black ink, Red Ink, and a stylus tip. It is very comfortable and much easier to write with.

There are other multi-function units at the website above that have other color inks as well as mechanical pencils.

Enjoy.

BTW -- the Stylus 5 pack from HS is ~ $15US and the ones at palmgear range from $10-30 or so.

Exclamation

Check out stores that already sell PalmPilots. I found a nice 3 pack of stylus at Fryes for $13. Good weight and feel (aluminum body) and the top unscrews to reveal a reset pin. It saves the insane shipping cost from Handspring. ($8 to $11 for a $15 set of stylus that weigh about 6 ounces).

Hey guys, don't forget that you don't have to buy this stuff on the web. That Big Blue Room called "outdoors" still works.

Talking

Again, I don't have a palm, but what are you talking about ??? I visited the site, and seen the styluses (There are many people ....), and I didn't get what's the deal ?? Because it isn't from plastic, or because it has a pen (!!!) in it, it's important ??

Gili,
The deal w/ the stlus is this... The visor's have a 'touch' sensitive screen.. Instead of using your fat greasy fingers, you use a stylus w/ a nice pen sized (MUCH more accurate than an finger.. and doesn't leave smudges) tip for 'writing' and such on the screen..

Thumbs up

Gili,
I ordered a Platinum Double 3 (sometimes called air grip) from palmgear, and its not bad. Unless you have small hands the tiny flexible piece of plastic is a difficult to write with. The Double 3 is only $8 and has a pen, pencil and stylus built in. Its very comfortable. Also PDA Panache will sell you a stylus that is shaped like an ink cartridge so you can change your favorite pen into a stylus for about $6. Using a full sized pen is much easier.

I hope this advice is useful.

Mike

The only problem with any stylus which doesn't fit inside the silo is that it must be carried separately. This may tend to get cumbersome. After all, that's why the unit includes a silo. So, you'll have a stylus with you at all times. PDA Panache, E&B and others will shortly have metal (heavier weight makes it easier to write with) replacement styli which will fit in the silo. Then, you'll always have a quality stylus available. Oh, btw, replacement styli usually have much better tips, making it easier to write and less likely to scratch the screen.

You can also check out www.ttools.com .. they make a pen/stylus that is a normal pen size, but instead of a "pocket"-style clip, they have a "clip" that fits in the stylus holder. I don't know if it will fit the Visor, but they have models for the III... might be worth checking out... anyone have experience with these?

If you feel like splurging, get a Rotring Multipens. It is a combination stylus/pen/ pencil/highlighter the thickness of a regular pen with an elegant matt black finish. It will cost you about $60. I absolutely love it.

Question

I'm looking for "full sized" combination pen/stylus that has a reset pin included. Anyone know of one? There's none shown with reset pins on PalmGear.
