It seems like most of us who have ordered one or are thinking about it search this site for info. Does anyone know how many prebooks handspring has so far.

I asked that same question yesterday when I placed my order. I did not get a conclusive answer only a hint. They weren't overwhelmed with orders yet.

When I talked to the order rep yesterday, he assured me that they will have plenty of Visors to ship on the first day to everyone who has placed an order. He said there will be no back orders.

I think there's two possibilities:

1. The initial ordering has been underwhelming, thus they are in no danger of back ordering.

2. They made so many Visors in the initial ordering, with the intent of getting them quickly out to retail stores, that limited marketing through a website and 888 number couldn't possibly sell them out.

I hope it's the second! And, with their hints that it will be available in the stores the beginning of next year, it seems the most likely.

The reason that Handspring doesn't know how many orders have been placed, I'm willing to bet, is that all of the orders are recorded with pen and paper. I heard this rumor somewhere, then called Handspring to confirm it. I was a little alarmed by this, myself, since I did place an order. I hope they're exceptionally well organized.

I think that at this point, HS has entered in all the paper orders. It was rumored that they were starting the transfer of paper orders to the computer sometime last week.

Okay, let's change that 'I think' to 'I HOPE'!
