I found these review comments at PalmGear re: HideIconHack (doesn't seem to be compatible with later OS)

17-Nov-00 by Scott Merryfield
I love my new Visor Prism!!! And the palm os 3.5.2H, but like everyone else, I love Hide Icon Hack because of the days when I used it on my Visor Deluxe. But Now It won't work on 3.5.2H, Or 3.5.1H. Oh, Darn... Maybe we can convince the programmer to make a compatible version some time!!!!! Great program, Needs color support!!!

I used it on my Visor Deluxe and it worked flawlessly. I now have a Visor Prism and it does not work at all under Palm OS version 3.5.2H. I contacted Mr. Okamoto but I got no firm response whether this hack would be updated. I give it 3 stars. This is an average of 5 stars for the Visor Deluxe and 1 star for the Visor Prism.

Just found an alternate way. Use FileZ and set the "Hide" attribute. On my VDX it even hides the icon from Launcher III. The app still show up in lists like on EZLauncher though, so you can have it off the Launcher, but still run it if you like.

Question

The only problem is that you cannot use Filez to change Rom programs to hidden. I dont use mail on my Visor and i would like to hide the icon from Silver Screen. Any other ideas?

The only other option I know of is using the Launch 'Em beta. It has an option to hide a whole tab ... just put everything there that you don't want to see . . . and hide the tab . . .

I'm running the current Launch'em Beta, and the Hide Tab functionality doesn't work. How do you get it to work?

That is a wonderfull program if you are using a Palm...I tested it with the Palm Emulator and it does not work with the Visor Rom but it does work on the Palm IIIc Rom...also it does not work if you are using a launcher like Silver Screen...oh well...ill keep waiting....

I just found this myself. Great little program if you use the built-in launcher.

Yes, Invisible is pretty good if you have the built in launcher. Even though I suggested it to this thread, I hope for a better solution. I didn't want to add an additional program and have to control it with soft resets. I personally like the Filez hidden attribute better, but there is still the issue of the ROM applications that won't hide. Nosleep Software is pretty responsive and open to suggestions for improvements to their excellent Filez program. If Nosleep Software releases a Filez revision that fixes the ability to hide the software in ROM issue, I think we'll all be pretty happy.

BTW - I already e-mailed them about this issue and I have no doubts that if it's possible to hide ROM applications without resorting to the need for a hack, we'll see this feature in a future realease. And no, I don't have any connection whatsoever to Nosleep Software. I just think their product ROCKS.
