So, what's up handspring's sleeves? I really feel we could use better resolution and a special screen similar to what was in Sony's DSC f55 digital camera where we can turn off the LCD in bright sunlight and have the sun work for us!! What do you think? Oh yeah, more internal memory would be nice too.. especially with all these modules requiring more memory on board like Geode and Eyemodule 2.

So let me see if I get this straight. You want to be able to turn off the LCD in sunlight.

So, you don't want to see the screen at all, then.

Last time I checked, if you turn the LCD off, you turn the SCREEN off.

Oh.. well yes and no... I wish I still had that Sony DSC F55 digital camera (sold it) but it had this really cool LCD screen technology where, in sunlight, you could turn off the backlight to the LCD and the actual screen made the sun act as a backlight. I don't know how the technology works but it was great because I could 1. See my color pictures in sunlight, and 2. save battery life when outdoors. With my prism, well.. I'm only really concerned about actually seeing it when outside. It's very difficult. I wish I could explain it better. Perhaps if we look for some link with the f55 specs, it would help out... actually, "Hybrid LCD Color Monitor with Brightness Control (122K Pixels): Sony introduces a new technology for the 2" color LCD which is a hybrid system consisting of a transmissive LCD combined with a reflective LCD. By turning the backlight off, the LCD will capture more ambient light allowing you to reduce power consumption by 20%. This will save on battery power, and prevent LCD wash-out" even in difficult lighting conditions." That's a blurb from a dealer.

I think you're talking about a reflective color screen, which the Compaq IPaq has. Rumor is the new Palm m505 may have one also.

He's talking about a combination. Prism vibrance in the dark and reflective visibility in direct sunlight. The best of both worlds. And rather expensive I imagine.

It may cost a little more but c'mon, how many of you can actually use your Visor Prism outdoors on a decent day? I certainly can't!! That's the only thing I don't like about the Visor Prism. Either way, for now, I just keep my Visor playing indoors or on overcast days.

So what do you guys all think will be killer features in the NEXT Visor product line??? For now I've ditched my laptop and just hope Handspring keeps throwing us great products!

People will probably have a fit by this, but I'd like to see a WinCE like palm top form factor, but with PALM OS, bigger screen and a real (however tiny) keyboard,, (like a mini laptop) I'd be even closer to actually ditching my laptop 100% (I still need my laptop for company email (Lotus Notes) and for Telnet/Xterm use.) The current palm screen is almost too small to use for telnet like uses.. I have been playing with PalmVNC with some success though.. If I could plug a pager/wireless modem/cell phone module (aka visor phone) into it, and stuff the whole thing in my pocket I'd be in nerdvana..

I agree with you guy. Except for the keyboard part. PDAs in general need true handwriting recognition like the Apple Newton.

Plus HandSpring Visors, need to start with 16 megs and/or for cryin' out loud allow the apps to write/hotsync to external memory already!!! I mean how the hell am I to get video clips on my Prism if I can only sync to internal ram!!!(which disappears quickly) Or my photos or So I can view VisorCentral via AvantGo with all the images on along with the other channels.
