Cool Administrator Hotsynch problem

I should be able to figure this out, but my brain isn't working.

My brother is using a Windows machine at work. One fine day he started to have problems hotsynching his Prism.

So he re-installed the Handspring software.

Now it is really weird. When he is logged onto the computer under his name, when he right clicks on the hotsynch icon in the system tray, there is no item for "Local USB". So it won't hotsynch.

But if he logs on as an administrator, "Local USB" is present, and he can hotsynch just fine.

How can he fix this?

umm... log in as an administrator?

What version of Windows? Did he re-install as the admin or under his user account?

Cool

He's using Windows XP.

He re-installed as an admin. He says he cannot install as a user, and when he did the original install (which worked) it was also as admin.

Thanks for any insights you can provide.

I really haven't used XP yet, so I'm just guessing here. I think his user account probably doesn't have privledges to allow it to install software. I also don't think that user account can get to anything installed by the admin. Maybe someone with more knowledge of XP can help if I'm wrong.
