Does the Brando screen protector basically feel like a window cling, then? I'm trying to figure out based on the description if that is what it is. I've long thought that a blank window cling, cut to the right dimensions, would work well.

Actually, it's not like a window cling at all. I would say it is more like transparency material (like you would use for an overhead projector), with slight adhesive on one side. At least that's my opinion...

There is a definite low tack on one side that seems to survive through repeated washing.

The film itself is also relatively stiff, much like the aforementioned transparency film, but somehow 'softer' than that.

The 'glue' reminds me mostly of those 'sticky' toys- the animals or balls molded out of that really tacky gluey stuff- somehow made into a thin, transparent film and permanently stuck on this other sheet.

These things are hard to describe in detail- but they work wonderfully!

I got mine yesterday, and the best part about it is the package it comes in. When I ordered it, I put my personal corperate name in under company (Royal Flush Productions) and it's got the AIR MAIL thing and DO NOT BEND and foreign stamps, looks so professional (comon, it's the first time I've gotten airmail, let alone mail labeled to my company ). I am slightly disappointed with the protector its self, mostly because I thought it would look like having no protector at all, and it doesn't, but it's better than the Writerights, and a MILLION TIMES EASIER TO PUT ON.

OK you guys, this the first time I made a purchase based TOTALLY and COMPLETELY on word of mouth! Usually I'll see an ad, then read a review and hear good word of mouth or some combination, but this time I went by just this thread. This product better hold up or else I'm gonna... Excellent!!!

I just got my Brando in the mail a few minutes ago. It was a snap to install and it looks/feels great. I have used the Writeright protectors, and despised them. The Brando went on so much easier... no bubbles at all after my second try. I like how the plastic is stiff and not a soft rubber type material like the Wrightrights. I have been using cut outs from overhead sheets for a few months now, my Step-mom bought my remaining Writerights for use on her Edge when I quit using them. Now I am sure she will use Brando. Maybe when she orders her's I will get another one to save on shipping. I have a friend with a m505 that will want one for sure. I 100% recommend this to anyone. Just my two cents...

jez bought a writeroght yesterday = (. wished I had read this thread earlier, the WriteRight is terrible, writing grafitti is now a chore as there is a lot of friction and the display looks a bit hazy. On top of that, there are scratch marks on it already after a day od use. Heard from a friend that silicon polish does well to make things smoother tho'

Is there a big difference between the Nushield and the G2 protectors by PDAScreenprotectors?

I got my www.PDAScreenProtectors.com G2 protectors a couple days ago. So far, I really like them.

The new G2 is supposed to be scratch resistant, and it seems to be exactly that- my stylus glides quite smoothly and I cannot seem to leave any scratches or haze so far.

They have decent installation instructions and mine went on pretty well the very first time- although I did make one tactical error.

Before installing it, I cleaned the screen with a spray. I tried to dry it off completely, but a drop had gotten between the screen and frame, and when I installed the G2, the drop spread out underneath it all over the place!

I shoulda used a moistened towelette!

Anyway, it fits between the screen and device housing without adhesive and it is crystal clear. Rather than the Brando's pleasant 'papery' feel, the G2 is more like slick glass- the stylus glides quite smoothly. It is sort of like using a gel pen compared to a pencil- different but not necessarily better or worse.

Shipping was rather cheap and only took a few days (the Brandos order the same day still have not arrived).

This seems to be a decent alternative (so far!) if you do not like the Brandos for whatever reason!

The NuShield does not use adhesives

I have NuShield screen protectors and it has been on since November without any problems. Since Nushield does not use sticky or tacky stuff to hold it on, it is easy to take off, clean and put back. NuShield goes between the screen and the case.

NuShield also has a special coating to reduce glare and to prevent scratches.

You might want to take a look nushield.com

Oh yah, the price is lower than Brando, G2 or WriteWrights.

New film sizes from NuShield

NuShield has introduced screen protectors for the Samsung PDA/Phone and the Sharp Zaurus 5500.

OK, I ordered some Nu-Shields to see what they were like...

Arrived quickly and are packaged nicely. The instructions are OK, except for Step 1, which tells you to clean the shields as well as the screen. This seems a bit odd- couldn't they ship them clean and ready to use? Brando and G2s are already clean. On the other hand- the Nu-Shileds look perfectly clean as well. (Although, dust and lint can be attracted to the plastic, so puffing it off before installing it is always a good idea!)

Installation was easy- but it seems a bit small on my prism- it moves a bit easier than I like and there is often a edge of screen showing through.

One side of the protector is 'rough', and this side goes down. In place, the protector looks rather cloudy to me- kind of like the Brandos are. No distortion that I can see, but everything looks just a bit dimmer. I am not sure if it is better, worse, or the same as a Brando, but I feel like I have to boost the brightness setting up a pinch to compensate.

It has a nicely smooth, silky glide to the screen when I use my Chameleon stylus, and it is a little 'grabby' with the 'pen tip stylus' from Fellowes.

Now- to see how it holds up over time!

You can never be too clean

Screens and film can get dirty by just waving it in the air. If you take a moment to clean the film and the screen before you put them together, you reduce the chance of dirt getting between them. The rough side is actually a protective coating that prevents scratching the screen when you write with your stylus. Yes, it is slightly cloudy, but the NuShield folks tell me that they are working on a new process that will increase the clarity. The G2 film does not have an abrasion coating which is why it is so clear. It is just a piece of plastic film.

Good luck with your NuShield. I love mine and it has worked great for the past 6 months.
