What's up with OmniSky?

So tell me.......

These guys are plastered all over the internet with their banner
offering the FREE modem with ONE year contract.

Is it worth it for $29 or $39 per month? Whose used it?
Or is using it?

And Does the Blazer browser work with this service?

Thanks in advance!

Mark

Well, I tried it. And I didn't like it.

I had it for 4 days. And I used it alot.
The main problem, for me was spotty service. Had trouble staying connected.
Second was the speed. It's slow! In my opinion. Having Blazer made it go faster but it was still slow.
Talking about Blazer, It's pretty impressive. I like it. I have it currently on my prism. Just in case if I decided to get another modem. Which I'm not getting any time soon.
The free modem is a good deal. If you like the service. But if you don't then your kind of stuck. I mean they give you 30 days to try it out. But after that your lock in. 40 bucks a month for something you don't like would suck. But really 30 days is plenty of time to decide if you like the service or not.
If your really dead set on getting the Omnisky service. Then I would try it out. And pay the return shipping.
If you like it and don't want to be in a contract. You could buy a used one on Ebay.
Which I might do in the future. Maybe. Omnisky will have to definitely increase their service area.
Also checkout the Visor phone. Alot of people have them.
I think it would be better then the Omnisky. As far a coverage. But I've heard that it's hard to find a cell phone provider that won't screw you with all the fine print.
So good luck.

I agree with marley55. try it first. if you don't like it than return it. for me, the places that I use omnisky, have a very good coverage. I'm posting this from SF airport and I'm using blazer. so, good luck!
