Has anyone used a Prism with the Sanyo SCP-5000

Just like the title says. I'm thinking about getting this phone as a replacement for my SCH-3500. But, I've got SprintPCS wireless web and a connector for my Prism. I don't mind buying a new cable, but I would like to know if anyone has gotten this cell phone to work with a Prism.

Only close - I've got a Platinum and the Sanyo 4500 with SprintPCS, with a SupplyNet cable. Up and running within minutes of receiving all the pieces.

The bottom connector on the phone looks remarkably similar. It might work straight away. We'll see though.

Anyone else?

I have the Sanyo 5000, but I have an Edge and no one has made a connector that will work between the two yet. The connector for a Sanyo 5000 looks the same as the one for the 4500, but it is smaller on the 5000 so the other cable won't work.

Well, since you posted about having one, do you like it? battery life, features, etc?

I love the phone overall, but there are a couple of little concerns that I have about it. The battery life is about 1 day with the backlight on. I am the type of person who charges my phone every night anyway, so it doesn't really bother me that much. The only other quasi problem that I have is that I have been waiting for my extended battery since I got my phone in May.(There was a coupon in the box for a free extended battery if you mailed in a form) They have been on backorder since then. I called to check on it last week and I should be getting it soon, which is good news to me. The only other thing that I wish that the phone did was to sync to Outlook so that I didn't have to type in people's phone numbers when I first got the phone.

Other than that, the look on people's face when they see the photo caller ID is priceless. That and when my phone starts ringing to the tune of Margaritaville, or Bohemian Rhapsody people are jealous. I would definitly recommend the phone though. One of my friends went out and got one a week after I did because he saw how cool that it was.

If I can find it cheap enough, I might consider getting one. My company will be be buying new phones for my partner and I. He's already bought one, but his new one was only about $150. I don't think it would be fair to go over that by more than $15 or $20. Even at HALF the current price that still over $100 that I would have to shell out.

Do you think that this phone wil be a keeper? I don't want to be one of those people that jumps on the bandwagon that ends up in a dead end street, you know what I mean? I don't want to have to buy a new phone every year or two.

It is hard to say. I personally plan to get a minimum of 3-4 years out of it. There are so many different phones out right now, and so many that will come out soon, that it is hard to say what will last. The software on the phone is upgradeable as far as I can tell, so I would think that Sanyo and Sprint would upgrade the software after a while to be able to stay current.

On another note, I emailed supplynet and they are making cables that are compatible with the Sanyo 5000. They said that they would send out an email once they are for sale.
