Introducing TheSherpa...
...the Internet tour directory complete with an electronic tour
guide that "knows" where you are!

The Sherpa Springboard[TM] Module is a combination
MP3 player and global positioning system (GPS). Its
primary purpose is to play back digital voice files
depending on the users location and direction of travel.

Initial applications of this functionality include: 1) the storage
and position dependent playback of popular walking tours
of major cities and sites of interest. 2) the ability to
download and store user defined tours and traveling
directions directly from the world wide web.

The Sherpa is an electronic walking tour that "knows" where
you are and therefore what part of the tour it should be
playing for you. The tours that it plays can be bought "off the
shelf" in the form of FlashCards that are inserted into it or
they can be downloaded directly from the internet.

Looks good, I hope it does driving directions too. This would be the best GPS for driving if it did.

Sounds good, but any word on price and when it will be available? Their page had no additional information.

No, that's all I've seen on it (it showed up in a web search, and I suspect it's not "ready for prime time" yet. That's why I asked here, maybe someone has an inkling...
