problem with SoundsGood Module

I have had mine SoundsGood MP3 for over six months. Worked great until recently. Now I get sound mostly in the left ear piece. I also can get sound in the right ear piece if I play with the jack. If I put pressure on the jack I can hear in both right and left ear pieces. When I release I have a problem. I bought a new Sony headset. Not the solution. Contactec Palmgear. Not helpful at all. Any ideas?

I read a criticism of the SoundsGood on a different thread that touched on this issue - something about the straight up-and-down plug on their head phones (as opposed to the "L" shape you see on other ones) making them more prone to damaging the jack. Maybe that's the problem. I purchased new headphones anyway - I hate the "in the ear" kind that came with the module - so I haven't had that problem

PalmGear doesn't have the best rep for being helpful.

I remember that discussion thread. It was back when the price of the SoundsGood module came down. There were a lot of people surprised that Good Technologies would send the module with such terrible headphones. TarheelBlue, I think VTL is right. The old headset with the straight plug (or any set of headphones with a straight plug) has damaged your jack, and I don't think there's very much you can do about it now. Sorry, man.

I have a SoundsGood and would like to avoid this issue. How does the L-shaped plug help prevent this problem from occurring?

i guess it's not as long, so it doesnt have as much leverage on the jack. why dont you crack the module open and see if you can fix it? Heck, it's busted already anyways.

I think the reason it supposedly works is the lever issue mentioned by Thorin. If you yank on the cord of the straight up-and-down plug, it immediately applies the force against the walls of the jack in an opposite direction. With the L-shaped plug, unless it's already pointing in the direction of the tug, the plug will swivel first in the jack, and the force is more attenuated.

my soundsgood is obviously broken. So, i contacted palm gear and I got reply as.

"Sorry about that. And we nor the manufacture have a repair source to recommend."

As you can see, Soundsgood is actually a dispossable gadget toy.

If you don't have it, DO NOT BUY IT.

Mine was broken like that - in order to hear the bass I had to tweak the jack. Back when Good was good they mailed me a replacement unit and then told me not to bother returning the broken one. My wife has one too and the case split along the top and one side and when I called and emailed I got the same "we nor the manufacture have a repair source to recommend." After the third such attempt I finally got a RMA suggestion... I sent that on to my wife and I hope she returns it... I won't even buy software through palmgear because of things like that. Service plummeted when they took over Good. The player still rocks though.
