Red face

Hey everybody! After reading that the Thinmodem Plus has a 16-bit colour web browser called Browse-it, I decided to try it out.

Unfortunately, all the links that were given did not lead me to the download site.

I finally found it as a free download at www.intellisync.com.

Been trying it out (in fact this post is being written directly from my Visor Prism with the Thinmodem) and I have to say that 16-bit colour is amazing!

The speed of the browser is not too bad either. Love it and now I have it stored on my Thinmodem as the browser of choice!

would you email it to me? I'd like to try it, but their website is having a fit and won't let me download.

Arrow intellisync download

Something must be wrong with their download page. It keeps redirecting to the account login page. If anybody has the file posted somewhere else, please say so. Thanks--

Arrow answer my own question...

Ahh. It seems that after signing up as a new user, you must start a new session (close browser, restart it) to get to the download page. Very tricky.

Just got this e-mail from the Browse-it people:

"Experience the Intellisync.com(SM) service free of charge for an introductory period, after which you will be given the option to migrate to either a monthly or annual service subscription plan*, or cancel your account with no obligation. "

I'm not sure if that means the offline web pages part (kind of like AvantGo) or the Browse-it browser itself that will be charged in the future. I hope it's just for the offline web pages service and not for the browser itself, which should remain free.

Does any out there use Palmscape? I have not bought it yet but when it was free, it was the most complete browser out there.

Thanks a bunch Akur,

I'm downloading it and will give it a try in a bit and let everyone know how it works on the Mac. I just bought the old ThinModem (yea, stupid me -- I've rented a Wiley Coyote 'Kick-Me' Machine) and it came with the 1.0 version of Browse-it. I hope it works with color -- Blaser is good -- but slow.

dave

I received the same email.

I think that they are going to become a "full service" portal which, I assume, would include the proxy server that Browse-It uses.

What I find odd is that they are going to shut down the free service on the 12th(?) of March and they don't know what their fee structure for the pay service will be. They are going to start charging $$$ in less than a month and they still don't know what they WILL charge!

You have to head on over to http://www.intellisync.com/p1_request_browse-it.shtml and create a new account with them. It's free so far.

Then, you just put your username and password into Browse-it and you should be able to surf after that

I'm confused a bit here...

I got a TM a while back, and soon ditched Browse-It in favour of Blazer...the Browse-it I had was not colour, and was causing my Prism to freeze up and constantly reset...

Is this a new version of Browse-it? What is the difference in colour support between this version of Browse-it and Blazer??

Thanks for the input and clearing up my confusion!!

Anyone who needs the .prc, Email me, I will be happy to send it to you.

I use my Prism with my Mac, and was pissed to see that they (for no good reason at all) made everything so that mac users could not install their software. LAME. I had to install palm desktop on my seldom-used pc, just so i could get at the .prc from their damned installer

I wish they would just use zip and/or sit files. Leave the .PRC & .PDB files outside of any EXE's or CAB, etc. files.. So you can easily get at them.
