edge & deluxe. 1 pc. Can I snyc?

my mac has the edge Palm os 3.5 software from handspring.. The visor deluxe has the os 3.1 ...I've got both cradles on usb ports. but when i tried to sync the deluxe i got a fatal error. twice. Anybody got any ideas. should I install the palm program that came with the deluxe or .. is there some software?? Thanks hope someone has an idea.
