Is this going to mean _less_ or _more_ odd-size and/or pop-up ads?

no more popups if they can sell all the ad space (hoepfully. I hate those things!)

I want to just comment on one thing about our partnership. I wasn't involved with the discussions, but I have known about this for awhile now so I do know most of details. I'm not particulary happy with the wording of that press release (sorry Christine!) - especially the first paragraph. It made it sound like we were bought out - but we weren't. As later in it explains they're just managing our ads now. I just wanted to reaffirm that with everyone...

We are still independant!

One concern: If this company buys all the major PalmOS sites and then offers exclusivity deals to certain Palm related companies (i.e. we'll take double the money and lock out yor competitor)...

...much as 95% of people ignore ads, they do tend to legitimize companies and raise awareness....

Not to be a jerk or anything...

But, coughcoughJunkbustercough...

I know that ad impressions, even when they're not clicked, are important ...but some of us really, really do not like to be advertised to.

There are exceptions to the rule. But for every exception there are 9,999 ads that I didn't want to see and ended up wasting my bandwidth. Thus, Junkbuster.

BTW: as a side note, one of my favorite sites - Slashdot - went to a pay-to-avoid-ads subscription model. I paid. $30, I think, for a year.

Now, if VisorCentral wants to publish some more timely articles and reviews - and have frequent updates - I think that you guys might have something worth purchasing. I'd pay, oh, $10 or $15 a year to avoid ads on VisorCentral. Considering that I currently visit about once a week (new articles don't happen too frequently) $15 would have to be the maximum.

Just a thought.
