Uninstall 3.5.2 v1.5 Updater?

Does anyone know how to uninstall the Update without doing a Hard Reset? The Handspring site says to do a System Reset and then Delete it, but after a system reset you cannot delete it because it does not show up. Trying to Delete it from another program like FilePoint does not work either.

Thanks for any help.

Any reason why you want to uninstall it?

Having just done this for trouble shooting reasons:
Perform a warm reset (Hold the up scroll button while pressing the reset button on the back)
From the default launcher, tap the pull down menu and select delete.
Delete the item named "HsExtensions 3.5.2"
Perform a regular reset

When you do an info, you should now see that the OS is no longer version 3.5.2 H1.5 and the patch has been removed.

For what it is worth, I wound up reinstalling the 1.5 update as it was not contributing to my problem of games locking up (Zap 2016, Asteroids, occasionally Spy Hunter)

In answer to the firt question I am doing it for troubleshooting reasons. I have a SnapNType and it will simply not work with my Prism, when I did a Hard Reset it started working. I then reinstalled including the Update and it is not working again. I am running no hacks so I am thinking this is a good place to start.

In response to Sven's, this is exactly what Handspring's site says but it does not work as you suggested. When I get into the Delete area, the HSExtensions are not listed after doing a System(Warm) Reset. When I do a Soft Reset they are listed???? But then I can't delete them...

Oh well, the search goes on.

Note: There is an HSExtensions that is in ROM that gets installed automatically if there is not already one in RAM. This might be what you are seeing. I have not experimented much with this, it has been a while since I saw these things happen, and I am not about to perform some of these test now, but what I vaguely remember is:

  • When one performs a hard reset the HSExtensions in ROM is copied to RAM and installed.
  • When one performs a warm reset the HSExtensions is not copied to RAM, and appears to disappear if it is the same as the one in ROM.
  • When one performs a soft reset, if there is not already an HSExtensions in RAM, it copies and installs the one from ROM.
On my Prism the version in ROM is 3.5.2 v1.2, where as the one I have in RAM currently is 3.5.2 v1.5. These versions are based off of the file name.
