It finally arrived yesterday, I almost wanted to drive back to work and try it out in the lab.

I waited until this morning though, and tried it with a few pieces of equipment:

A Contivity extranet switch, a Cisco 12000, a custom HP real-time controller for an ATM switch, and a Shasta SSG-5000. I found the connection settings for the boxes mostly by trial and error, and I actually noticed that MarkSpace probably sent me the wrong cord. I asked for a DCH-M9, which is supposed to include a null-modem, but I ended up having to use a null-modem for all the same devices I use a null-modem with when connecting with a PC.

The cord drains a lot of power from the Visor, my batteries went down quite a bit after a few minutes of use, and they go down VERY low during use. I was using NiMH batteries that were already at least half-way spent so this probably made it even worse. Make sure you have spare batteries around when you use this cord...

By the way, I was surprised that the cord itself is purple. It doesn't quite match my Graphite Visor, I wonder why they didn't just make it black. I guess those two people out there who have a purple Visor will find that the MarkSpace cord complements their handheld quite well.

I wasn't able to do a HotSync with the cord whether or not I used a null-modem adapter, I'm not sure what's up with that. I did install my HandSpring software with the Serial option as well as USB, and I selected "Serial" as one of the HotSync options and chose the correct serial port...

If you have the DataCord, please post your impressions here and what you use it for.
