I've had this thing for a week now. At first, it synced just fine (win98, Outlook, USB). Then it stopped. I called tech support. The regedit solved the problem. Then it quit again. I reinstalled the software - twice. After the second time it seemed to be fixed. Now - you guessed it - it's not cooperating again. Tech support came up empty. I'm supposed to call back in three days. Thanks for any light anyone can shed on this.

I've been having problems with mine also. If I do a soft reset I can sync again. Try it, maybe it will work for you.

this has happened to me on 2 occasions, the soft reset will work for awhile but then not at all. the best thing to do is call the 800 number and tell the person that tech support stated that your cradle was bad. I've honestly gone through 2 cradles and they've replaced both and i can synch at least for now. you'll have to send them your cradle in exchange for the new one. hope this helps.

Hey, I just got my Visor and I was able to HotSync fine the first time. Then when I tried again, I had to toggle the "enable" and "disable" buttons. Then it wouldn't let me choose "enable". I downloaded from this site and saw a fix for iMacs. The readme said it's good for Windows, too. You may want to try it. I haven't had problems today.

Thanks for the replies everyone. Wonder of wonders, it's working again - but I'm not exactly sure why! Perhaps I'm seeing causality where there is none, but I do remember clicking my heels three times just before it started syncing again.

But I have a sinking (!) feeling the problem will reoccur.

One other thing (and this is more of a suggestion for the moderators): going back into the archives, it's obvious that people have been posting about this problem for quite some time. Is there a way to consolidate all of the hot-sync posts into one thread? Not only would this be extremely useful, but it would also show the history of the problem (and, of course, Handspring's lack of success in solving it). Thanks.

Following up on this line of thinking . . . how about this:

Setup a section like the one for reporting software incompatibilities; but geared toward reporting different cradle "fixes". This would give everyone a chance to see what options exist, which ones work for the most people, and which ones were probably just luck. It might make sense to divide it into two sections, one for serial cradles and one for USB cradles. Obviously there should be a field for operating system.

So. What about it Admins; can we get something like this?
