Received the HS backup module today... seized the visor at first attempt, reset and then it worked fine...

My question is this... where do I store it.. I don't have any other SB's so thought about just keeping it docked in the visor... are there an reasons why I shouldn't do this??

I don't think leaving it in will do any harm. For external storage, I've heard that the little cases for GameBoy cartridges work well.

By the way MarkEagle... I've read a bunch of your replies in the past... you're as much of an avid reader of this site as I am... course I just don't reply quite as much as you.

Thanks for the reply... I just didn't know if long term storage for the springboard would result in any adverse effects.

Well, one reason to have the backup module is to be able to save and retrieve your data in case something happens to your Visor. If that "something" happens to be a lost or stolen Visor, your backup module would be lost or stolen as well. There went your valuable data....

As someone who lost his first Visor and was able to back up all my contact data in 15 minutes (from getting my sweaty little hands on the new, unopened Visor) I would strongly recommend that you keep the Back-up module close to you, but not in the Visor. I found a neoprene beeper cover (Beep Suit) on close out at OfficeMax. It has a keyring already on it, so I put my carkeys on it and carry it with me always. If you don't actually change your data alot, or don't try out a lot of new programs, or don't travel a lot- you might not want to have the module with you at all times. I do all of the above and have found having the module invaluable several times when I had to do a hardreset when a new program (or combination of programs) locked up my Visor.
You also have to get in the habit of frequently backing up your Visor with the module also.

Based on what I've read here, combinded with how often I anticipate needing to back-up my data, I figure it's probably a better idea for me to keep it at home and backup in the evening at the end of the day. Small chance of loosing it and it's kept apart from the visor...

I agree with BobbyMike.

I tend to keep mine inside my Visor, and I really shouldn't. Plus, I've also read that keeping SBs in the Visor can also draw additional milliamps, even when the unit is off. My experience tends to agree with what I've read from other posts, etc. My battery usage definitely went up after I started storing the backup module in the unit.

As perhaps the most paranoid person on this site, my ultimate solution was to buy TWO backup modules. I travel a lot and wanted to have a backup springboard with me to back up all the data I enter while on the road. However, the paranoid part of me worried that if I should somehow lose the whole thing (such as if my purse were stolen)all my data would be gone. So, my $40 solution was to have a spare, which has given me a lot of peace of mind.
