Unhappy Screen flickers; SCARY!

The screen on my Visor Pro began flickering badly just now (all the pixel seem to jump around in the image). I was doing the usual stuff when I noticed that some image shades began flickering. Frantic, I turned the device off for a while, then turned it back on, but it still flickers.

I thought it might be FastCPU, because I'm using that software. I turned FastCPU off and reset the device, the flickering only got worse! ALL of the pixels were jumping in their images. Only after I reset the second time did the flickering go away. Now there is no flickering.. yet, but I hope it won't come out again.

Please tell me this is caused by FastCPU. I used that software for something like a week already but didn't notice any flickering until just now. Also, I had 2 hacks on at the time (popup calc and crash) which I also turned off after the second pixel dancing afffair.

Am I looking at a warranty change???

I do hope not.

Anyone had similar problems?

Oh yeah, I've never, ever dropped my Visor. At least not yet as of this writing.

*******

By the way, anyone know how to sync Eudora 5.1 for the PC with the Visor? I can't seem to do it.

The screen flickering can be caused by a third party software or a hardware problem
Best way to test it is to synch up to a PC, then hard reset
Then before synching again to put your data back onto the visor, go to your handspring directory C:\Prog Files\Handspring or Palm\Username\Backup and cut and paste that backup folder onto the desktop, so therefore when you sync no applications will go over to the visor. Give it a few days and see if it flickers again, then if not, put the Backup folder back into the directory and sync, so then see if it starts flickering again with the software on it. That way you'll know if it's hardware or software. If hardware, call tech support for repair.

Thanks for your reply. Well, I'm not really sure about that problem, it's been about a week since that happened, but I sure get weird responses from my Visor sometimes. Like one time when I turned it on only to have a menu box with no content displayed on screen (it looks like the help window frame when you usually click on the ? icon - but no content) and it wouldn't respond. A reset solved it. And I didn't have FastCPU running at that time, or any hack. Besides, the only hacks I used is Popup Calc and Crash, which I turned off after my pixels start running wild.

My Visor works perfectly 99% of the time, but the other 1% seemed weird enough to make me worried.

I will do a hard reset if I actually find some time to do some backups and see if it happens on an empty Visor. I think I'll try it out on my vacation next month, just bring along my Visor without any software in it and see what happens.

I don't think Handspring would accept the Visor when they couldn't see any problems with it, do they?

Oh, by the way - if anyone has a rechargeable Visor, like the Edge, Pro and Prism - I;m curious about how they maintain their batteries. Is it a good idea to charge frequently, or let it run low until it warns then charge it, or leave it in the cradle (when at home of course) with the charger plugged in, even after a full charge? Please tell me how you use your visors, and what is possibily the best way to maintain the battery.

I usually just charge to full whenever it's time for a hotsync. (about once a week)

Thanks all.
