Question

I would like to use the Visor I ordered connected to my Garmin GPS. I use it for Marine use and some land use. I would like to download my maps, routes and waypoints. Of course the GPS uses Serial connection, so I need the optional base. Anyone have experiance with Palm OS in this capacity?
Also wouldn't it be nice to eliminate the base and incorporate the base as a serial module?

I also would like to hook up my Garmin to my Visor. Let me know if you find out any information. I will forward anything I discover.

Thanks

First things first.

In order to connect your GPS to your Visor you will need a cable. The cable you want is not available, as Handspring has decided not to make a serial cable for the Visor. I suggest you contact them (via web page) and make a request that they start making the serial cable adapter (on the feedback form).

Second, once you have the cable (or serial cradle) you will need to get some software. From what I hear, the Quo Vadis application is fairly decent for road mapping.

There ya go...

Why not download the Handspring Developers' Notes PDF and make your own?! Waiting for a cable from Handspring...heh-heh...I can see it now: Handspring announces serial cable in Feb. 2000, First customer receives serial cable June 2000! :-)
