Unhappy

Hello all,

i just received my new toy and everything works great. Here are the stats:
- normal visor
- W98, sync via USB
- Using Palm desktop software
- Laptop: IBM Thinkpad

Here is the issue: I have no problems to sync to my laptop at home, however at the office (where the laptop is hooked up to the LAN) is cannot sync. It says "no connection with the desktop established" (or something similar). Anyone seen this problem before and knows what to do?

Any help is greatly appriciated.
S.M.

does your lan conect thru a USB? I ran in to a problem on my home computer when the USB cradle and my USB modem tried to lay claim to to the same com #. I just reassigned the com port number for the modem and all was well.

No, I use PCMCIA cards. One for the LAN and one for the modem. My visor is the only device connecting through USB.

Any other ideas?

this may sound dumb, but the message you get sounds like the HotSync manager is not turned on. Set your Hotsync to an unused port and actually click on the Hotsync program in your start menu/programs/palm desktop location.

i get that occasionally at work, PC hooked up to LAN, and occasionally for some unexplained reason the Hotsync manager gets 'turned off' and i need to start it up again.

dumb easy solution but i thought i'd let you know regardless.
