Perhaps you didn't completely explain yourself when you purchased 'bad product'?...

May I ask you why is it compUSA's fault that the handspring modem doen't work? CompUSA didn't make the modem, but are only acting as a resale company. If comUSA refused to exchange the modem for you then you might have a point, but you have not tried to return it yet, so you have nothing to complain about.

Cool

Granted, CompUSA's service is less than stellar, but I wouldn't go so far as to say that a store, "sucks" just because one item you purchased doesn't work.

You should definitely elaborate more on how you're using the modem when sending a message. Are you using it properly? Are you plugging it into a live telephone line, or are you trying to plug the modem into one of those digital lines in offices (in which case you've probably damaged the modem beyond repair and there's nothing that CompUSA or handspring can do for you except feel sorry for you). There are way too many people that simply want things to work right the first time and when it doesn't work right, right out of the box, they simply say it's defective and return the product. They don't seem to think that maybe they might be using the product wrong (7 times out of 10 they are).

You should contact Handspring about this problem. It's their product and if it's not working properly, they would want to know. Then, just do what they tell you (if they tell you to bring it back to the store, then you have something to say to the CompUSA droids rather than, "my product doesn't work. I want a new one."

I contacted handspring this thursday due to a screen problem with my Visor. Waited on hold no less than half a minute, talked to someone who diagnosed my problem in about two minutes, and told me to call the 1-888 number for returns/repairs, to which I didn't really like the thought of another call (but I waited on hold about the same time there, so no great problems). Bottom line is they were able to ship another Visor out by FedEx overnight and I received it Friday! Now that's what I call service!

PS - If you don't like Handspring's (or Palm's) non-toll-free technical support number, just go to http://www.dialpad.com and call them using dialpad! You can make long distance telephone calls anywhere in the US for free over the Internet! On cable/dsl/ethernet, there's almost no difference between regular long distance,...

At least you didn't get it at Best Buy

I'm not sure what your problem is either, but CompUSA is WAY better than ANY BestBuy. I've never seen a bigger bunch of incompitent fools running a lousier store. Here's just some of the wisdom I've picked up from the Best Buy employees.

1. Oh you ought to think about getting the 12x CD-r. Its 4 times faster than the 8x.
2. Oh the new pentiums have cache. That means your internet pages load faster.
3. This service plan protects your cellphone from any damage. You drop it and break it, you get it wet, anything. We replace it. (General Exclusions: This plan does not cover repairs caused by accidental or intentional physical damage, spilled liquids, insect infestation, misuse, abuse or damage caused by non-authorized repair personnel)
4. Me - "Doesn't this thing have a 1 year warranty?" "Uh, well no, it just covers defects our plan covers everything"
5. Do you have blah blah blah cheap deal in your flyer in stock? "No, but we have this next model up" Best Buy is ranked at the top of the list as far as Bait and switch goes.

Anyways, I could go on, but I won't. I just wanted to vent my anger at Best Buy. And also to say, that I've never really had a problem returning broken stuff to comp usa. They don't have the greatest customer service but they usually get the job done.
