Thumbs down

Hey. . .I saw the Visor Edge at Fry's. In my opinion. . .I didn't want it. Sure it was thin. The fliptop didn't "flip" all the way back. I'm not sure if I was doing something wrong but it just hung down at an awkward angle. The power button looks like cheap plastic and the hinge that holds the flip top looks the same. But I have to tell you. I really wanted this thing before I saw it at Fry's. I actually sold my platinum to get the edge. Sadly. . .I want my platinum back now. Oh well. . .oh and one last thing. . its VERY light. . .it feels very fragile even though it is in a metal casing. The edge looks much better on handspring's website. Seems like the edge has that "look good on camera only " thing like some female models.

different opinion

I have to admit, I was in the same boat as you. Had a Platinum, (well 3 of them in 4 months), and was really skeptical about paying $100.00 more for a thinner one that has in my opinion a clunky flip top.

I bought the Edge and tried it out for a week, before deciding to keep it and then sold my Platinum.

Let me tell you why.

The Edge is strong & tough, despite your initial reaction, if you tried it for longer than at the store, you'd find out than the metal casing makes a huge difference. My Platinum was terrible, the paint would show wear after a weeks worth of use, which is why I had 3 of them...it would not keep IMHO it was terrible that I paid retail for it, use the supplied case and literally after 1 week of use, all 4 edges had worn through.

My Edge with its hard metal case looks brand new after a months worth of use. I love it.

As for the power button, I'm actually more pleased with it than the platinum's (and other models) as I've always had problem with the button wearing or having to adjust the way I push it after a couple months b/c my usually way won't work anymore.

I dunno, I see where you're coming from on this one, but after sharing the same initial reaction, I've found it to be as good as product as they claim.

Good Luck!

I also really like my Edge. However my main complaint about it is that the power button feels cheap and feels like it is binding up a little. It has felt like this since day one. I thought that it would get better over time, but so far it hasn't improved at all. The button works fine, it just feels very cheap.
