Question

I called up a Local (Around Seattle, WA) CompUSA Store, and they said they did not carry the Handspring Visor? They didn't say they didn't have any in stock, but that they didn't carry them. Hmm. who out there has bought a Visor in a Retail Store? And Which Store did you buy it at? All I've heard so far is staples I think. I would prefer not having to drive 50 miles to the nearest staples store..

CompUSA will be carrying them as well. The KC CompUSA didn't have them on Monday, but they are supposed to have them by next week, and they still wouldn't open a Palm/Stowaway keyboard to let me see.

By the way IndyBVD, have you tried Staples or Best Buy yet? I'm looking to maybe go to one of them and hopefully get my hands on one.

Okay, I'm gonna answer my own question. My local Staples has the DLX in stock here, I called the Best Buys on 82nd St and they won't have them in for about 2 weeks he said. So they are in stock here in my town, no displays though. Best Buy said they would have one--that is in two weeks when they even get them.

staples in annapolis, md has the graphite visor on display and the price tags for the deluxes. no accessories though. the staples in bowie, md has no visors and only the slim leather case.
best buy isn't expecting anything for at least another week.

is it just around here, or does the staples near you not allow you to turn on a palm computer (they have those cheesy hollow versions with the fake screen display). I finally tried the IIIc at best buy since they're the only store that actually has available working PDA's.

First the answer. Staples is carrying them this week and appear from other VS threads to have an exclusive for the first week or two.

CompUSA retail and their Corp Direct line can not find them in their inventory database, but say they are supposed to get them within the next week or so (watch! Sundays ad will have it showing immediately despite CompUSAs above msg).

Secondly, watch for the other topic listed on VS. Look for "Staples to carry Visor..." at http://discussion.visorcentral.com/...TML/001579.html It is a long thread, but tons of info.

Bestbuy in Indianapolis (Castleton Store) now has them. I saw them. The store clerk dropped a black one and broke the screen. DOH!

I guess they wanted them here in time for the Final Four. Basketball fans rejoice!

Best Buy and Staples in Springfield, Mo both have the Visor in stock. The red shirt at Staples told me they did not have any SB's but the manager heard him and I was able to pick up the backup module for $42 and change.

Best Buy in Madison, Wi has both Graphite and Ice Deluxes and nothing else. (Literally nothing else, read on.)

The interesting part was when the store guy says in almost his best Barney Fife impression (every thing but the "You know Ange."), "Best Buy is the only place you can buy these." What about Staples, CompUSA and the internet Handspring site? "Nope, we paid a lot of money to have exclusive rights." Excuse me, but every one who bought one before last week bought from the website and so did I. I also bought an Ice at Staples last week. "Well, that's what we were told."

Amazing.

I just picked one up (ice) at Best Buy in Dallas. However, before I left a called 4 best buys and only one had them in stock. When I got there they told me they were only selling the 2meg. After I talked to the manager I was able to get the deluxe. He then told me that they didn't have serial cables. When we went over to the accessories counter I found about 20 boxed of the serial docking cradles. (sigh) I am home with my new purchase and am happily syncing away at all the new apps I have queued up!

Hey I went to Staples today. I called the night before and they said they had them in stock in the back, but not on display. I was in the neighborhood, so I stopped in---and low and behold! It was there. They had two of them on display, both graphite. A "red shirt" came over and asked if he could help me--he told me he had set them up just 10 minutes earlier--and that one was the deluxe and the other was the standard. I couldn't tell the difference on the outside of them. So it looks like my Staples got their act together pretty quick with Visors :P

I just went to the comp usa website (compusa.com) and typed in visor under product search and got a full listing of Handspring products. I then checked the availability of all the products in my local store and the only thing they had in stock was the 2 mb visor standard. ($179.99) Interesting.

Well I bit the bullet and drove down to Staples. I was happy to see that they had the Visor (Don't know if it was Std. or Dlx.) on display. Then I asked about Handspring Accessories to the guy at the counter. Some red shirt d00d in the background overheard and said 'uh, oh yeah, we got some handspring stuff in the back'. I'm glad these red shirt d00ds travel in herds . But anyway, he came out with a Backup Module, which I promptly bought . WooHoo, my first Springboard! And it came in handy too, had to hard reset (ancient red got corrupted) and just restored from the module. wow, this IS handy.

I just bought my blue visor deluxe at comp usa in Concord, California. They had 56 Visor 2 mb. and 60 total of the other colors. I also bought the Tiger woods module and 5 pack styli at my local Staples.

If you go to the Handspring website they have added a store locator link for Staples, Best Buy and CompUSA. My guess is all these three stores should have them in stock now.

KC finally has them in Best Buy! No modules yet, but VDx, BVD, IVD, V units. They were in the case with the Palms. They said that they had a "ton of them". definition on "ton" - a couple of dozen. They weren't sure what modules they would get in.

I also drove down to CompUSA. they just got their shipment of Handspring stuff today. The guy was putting all the stuff on the shelves when I was in the store. they have The Visor Deluxe, the Slim Case / BiFold Case, 1pack of 'Deluxe' Stylii (which I quickly snagged, I will make a killing on eBay lol ) and the Tiger Woods Game. The Ice Visor Deluxe they had on display had a Deluxe Ice Stylus in it's silo, so the new ones must be coming with a good stylus.
