Recently I had some problems with TrueSync and ended up deleting and reinstalling the whole thing. Afterwards my primary Palm Desktop conduits (Address book, Date Book, To Do, Memo) have VANISHED!!

Before I go playing around and mess up something more, does anyone have any suggestions on how I can get them back?

Thanks!

I don't understand. You ended up reinstalling the whole what? Palm Desktop/HotSync manager, or TrueSync?

I'm sure you're aware that if you're using TrueSync, the Palm Desktop conduits in hotsync manager are removed.

Could you just clarify what's going on a bit?

One thing to keep in mind is that if you ever have conduits that are missing, you can reload them from the CD. Run setup and select custom setup. Then deselect everything except hotsync manager. It will reload all of the applicable conduits. However if you have TrueSync still installed, it won't reload any of the conduits that TrueSync disables (contact, memo, calendar, todo, and File Sync)

Sorry I wasn't clear. I had to reinstall TrueSync.

Uh, yeah...I knew that!

OK, I'll keep that in mind! Actually, this is the kind of info I was looking for. Since installing the whole setup I haven't had to deal with this that much so I'm not that familiar with the installation and reinstallation of conduits. I wanted to get some kind of direction before I went playing around with it...but now I will. Thanks!

Well, I'm stuck. I originally installed Palm Desktop and synced the night away. Then I installed TrueSync to keep everything on Yahoo and all worked just fine, with both sync operations. I tried to update my TrueSync installation and it screwed things up so I uninstalled and reinstalled TrueSync, wiping out the basic Palm Desktop conduits. Now, as you've said, when I try to reinstall the HotSync Manager, nothing happens. It goes through the process but the conduits do not install.

Are you saying that I'll have to uninstall TrueSync to use Palm Desktop??!! Both were working before. How can I get them both working again! Help!

Vox,

You do not have to uninstall TrueSync to sync to the Palm Desktop. However, Truesync takes over the operation of syncing the Palm Desktop rather than the standard palm conduits. It's normal for those conduits to be missing from HotSync manager once Truesync is installed and in fact it's not even possible to have both at the same time. If you did have both the standard conduits as well as TrueSync in your HotSync manager previously, then your configuration was invalid.

Here's how it works. TrueSync is the conduit that replaces the standard Palm hotsync conduits for memo, contact, calendar and todo. Within Truesync are components known as accessors. Each accessor is responsible for syncing to a particular device, application or service. Exampes of each are:

Device - Palm, REX, Phones, etc
Application - Palm Desktop, Lotus Organizer, Outlook, etc
Service - Yahoo, Excite, etc.

In your case it sounds like you want to sync between Palm Device(Visor), Palm Desktop and Yahoo. So you need to have all 3 accessors installed and configured in TrueSync.

So at this point I would ask if you have all 3 accessors installed in TrueSync manager?

If you dont have Palm Desktop installed in Truesync then go to the Client menu in TrueSync and select Add and then select Application. This should open a dialog window and give you the option to check for additional components. By clicking the Product Updates button you can select additional apps, devices or services. There are probably several steps in between that I'm leaving out; I haven't done it in a while.

Give it a try and let me know if you get stuck and I'll try to help.
