After spending several hours attempting to purchase a Prism through Handspring's Web store, I find that they don't ship to FPO/APO addresses. Okay, I find a buddy in the States address to ship to and spend another hour to get back to where I was with the order. After entering his address for shipping, I'm taken to a Billing page where I find that Handspring's web site validates the City/State to ZIP and this will not recognize the FPO/AA combination. To add insult to injury the sales process then timed out and I wouldn't have been able to complete the sale anyway. It is a shame that Handspring can not support those of us who serve in remote locations overseas.

I feel your pain buddy, I had simular problems when ordering international originally...

Sent the support-team a e-mail in the end they helped me out great...

It took some time but I probably had the first european Visor...
Now I moved to Australia, I probably have one of the few aussie Visors...

I'm not particularly impressed with Handspring's sales support either. I emailed them to ask about the Prism's power adapter, and whether it would support international voltage. It took them about three days to reply, with, according to this board, the wrong information! (They told me it's 110v only, whereas I've seen a couple of posts here saying it's 100-240v)

Handspring UK isn't much more helpful. They make absolutely no attempt at finding out when the Prism will actually ship here, and get you off the phone ASAP by telling you it'll take at least 2-3 weeks. When I pointed out that the website stated a 1 week shipping time, I was told that the info would be corrected. It's still stated as "approx. 1 week" the last time I checked.

Handspring Non-Responsiveness

Well it has been six days since I attempted to order a Prism and emailed Handspring about my frustrations...still haven't heard a thing. It really says a lot for how this company treats our country's men and women serving in the military overseas. I have a heavy investment in SpringBoard modules and don't want to look at the competition.

Business Opportunity Missed

I believe Handspring has just missed an opportunity. I asked about the possibility of an upgrade path, tading in your VDx for a more powerful model.

Many companies are doing it, such as AT&T wireless, etc.

Here's is Handspring's response:

I don't think it's fair to compare trade-in programs for such companies as AT&T Wireless, or for cellphones, etc... These companies don't make money on equipment sales, but rather on the service provision, so they lock you in for another contract when you upgrade.

Handspring have made a point of keeping the cost of the unit down (well, until the Prism ), and a trade-in program, while a nice option for users, would probably turn into a loss rather than a profit for the company.
