Thumbs down

Check out this eBay auction for a Yellow Platinum. Apparently, this guy painted his platinum. Looks different to say the least.

Damn that looks horrid. Looks like a bus. And it's already at $365! What a deal! An ugly bus-looking over-priced visor platinum. Where do I sign up?

AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!
Who would ever want to be caught with something that hideous. I think that it's disgusting. If it sells for over 100, then somebody is getting a bad deal, and it's not the seller.

Question Hmm...

Could be bad/weird lighting in the pic, but the back of the unit looks more like Visor/VDx graphite than Platinum silver to me:

My vote goes to the changeable faceplate idea, as long as they don't try to charge $25 for a $0.05 piece of colored plastic like the Nokia/M100 faceplates.

Thumbs up sweeeeeeet...

Hey, nice case!

I am fairly disappointed with my VPL silver case. It looks cheap. I was actually hoping that the guy who is making the aluminum (magnesium?) Palm III replacement shell would start making Visor shells.

Hell I bought an E&B slipper case partially because it covered the silver beast.

I saw someone post that they had a few plastic visor replacement cases. I might have to get one of those bad boys and try the custom paint job myself...

Will post if I get decent results.

Side note: I contacted Handspring and they verified that the Deluxe and Platinum have the same exterior shell, if this tidbit helps anyone...

Heya...

Thanks for the input gang. That visor platinum (it is a platinum...the lighting makes the bottom half look black) is mine. That's right...I painted it, and I'm proud of it. It's not actually selling for $365 (CAN $) because no one has bid on it (go figure! I guess I'm starting a little high??) The warranty probably is voided, but as pointed out in other threads, (if you're somewhat Machiavellian) with the handspring exchange policy, you can have them ship you one, and swap out the internals (not that I advocate that--dishonesty never pays).

Anyway, the point of all this is: I was tired of that damn cheap silver paint rubbing off, so I took matters into my own hands...the picture doesn't really do it justice! In the end, I did make it onto this BB, so the whole affair was worth it! Not really looking to sell, just testing the water for any interest!

Judging by the response, this group is solidly silver!!
Cheers,
-Stimp

Not solid silver, but not bus yellow either. If the entire case were cherry red I'd consider.

Make mine polished chrome. Mirror finish. I want to leave it on my dashboard in the sun and have it remain cool to the touch. My chromed tape measure does this. Why can't my Visor?

OK, maybe a reflective chrome slipcase would be easier. All sunlight that strikes it is reflected. You can use it with ANY ugly colored Visor.

OK, I changed my mind. Make mine absolute black. So black that no light is reflected back from it. Then make the buttons glow with heat energy extracted from our hands as we hold the Visor.

OK, I changed my mind again. I like my platinum Platinum. I'll keep it the way it is. We humans are so fickle!

Dave ;-)

I gotta put my 2 (canadian) cents in: That two tone yellow visor looks sweet. It looks like one of these sony-sport style stereos. Yellow is a funny color. Some people love it, others hate it, with little middle ground. I myself Am seriously considering painting my VSolo A bright orange.

Actually, I'm thinking more along the lines of just painting the cover orange, with some sort of cool logo in silver.

Although red or yellow could be cool too...

Actually, I'm thinking more along the lines of just painting the cover metallic orange, with some sort of cool logo in silver.

Although red or yellow could be cool too...
