Beaming turns itself off and stays that way

The beam option on my Deluxe keeps turning itself off occasionally and when I try to turn it back on via the pulldown menu, it stays off, no matter how many times I keep turning it back on. Only when I do a soft reset will the beam option correct itself. Beaming won't work of course when this occurs, so it isn't menu display problem.

Once, soft resetting it didn't work, but a hard reset solved it. Now it still keeps doing it at odd times. What seems to be the problem? I'm using a set of NiMH rechargables, is this the problem?

i had the same problem on my Neo- i gave it a soft reset and it never happened again.
