Talking

The Visor and a number of accessories are now available in Montreal, Canada. During a visit to my local Bureau En Gros (part of the Business Depot & Staples group) I spotted, to my surprise, a Visor Deluxe on display beside the Palm PDAs.

The Bureau En Gros that I visited carried the Visor and Visor Deluxe. Multiple colors were also on sale. They also carried a number of accessories, including cases, cradles and some modules. The price of the Visor Deluxe was a very reasonable $378. I personally had to check the price more than once to confirm. It seems to me to be a very good price.

The salesman told me that Visors were put out last week and have been selling very well. He made a very nice pitch to me, clearly steering me to purchase the Visor over any of the Palms.

Anyway, Canadians rejoice, Handspring is here.

Why are you surprised by the price? It sells for $250 US which translates to about $375 CDN. What I'd like to know is how the accessories compare.

Question

I am "surprised by the price" because usually electronic items sell in Canada for more than just the CDN dollar equivalent. As well, I have seen the Visor advertised on Canadian webpages for as much as $425.

Glad to see it's finally available in Canada.

As for electronics, in the retail channel, I find that the prices are usually about the same in Canada vs. the US.
