Angry

A few days ago, I suddenly became unable to HotSync my VDx from my home computer, which has a USB connection. It hangs on the "Conecting with Desktop" screen until I get an error that tells my the connection couldn't be established. The funny thing is I'm having no problems at all HotSyncing from my serial connection at work. I've tried a zillion different things--soft and warm resets, running the Visor Reg Clean utility, rebooting my PC and reinstalling the original desktop software--but nothing worked until I disabled all my hacks.

Has anybody else had this problem? I know I've got a lot of hacks (I use X-Master and it's been very stable) but I haven't made any changes to them or installed any new ones for a long time. And why the heck would this only be a problem w/ USB syncs?? Does anyone know why this could be happening or how to fix it? It's really annoying having to disable and re-enable my hacks with every sync!

Unhappy Hey, me too...

hey, ive been experiencing the same problems with my visor... i got a prism about last week and it would be my FIRST time to do a USB hotsync (ive owned other palmOS-based pdas before)... and though it would work fine during the first sync, minutes later when i would like to install a new app, i wouldnt be able to sync again... i have tried using the VBRegClean from handpsring to no avail... thus, my only resort is to reboot the entire pc ---> which is really really very tedious... im wondering if anyone has been able to find a solution to this... thanks in advanced...

Do you use a Stowaway?

or other things like Silkyboard, Interpilot, Shield, etc.?

I have the same problem, but not all the time. I have Hackmaster. I just hit the reinstall hacks button & then it works fine. It's a little bit of a pain, but only takes a second. However, I'd love to hear of a solution, too.

No, no Silkyboard, Interpilot or Shield. And as of this morning it won't even do a USB sync with the hacks disabled. I called Handspring customer service and they gave me a fix to try. They said 95% of the time this works but I apparently must be part of the 5% because no dice. Guess I'll have to call them back again tomorrow. It sure would be nice if they had a 1-800 number for hardware problems.
