Question

I just purchased a pack of WriteRights, the package says that they are good for a month, then they will need to be replaced...what happens to them, within a month, that they need to be replaced?

Exclamation

After a month they start to go bad. You'll
know this is happening when you start feeling
lumps in the graffiti area and there's a sour
odor wafting out of the stylus silo.

NO, you do not need to change your WriteRight as often as ConceptKitchen would want you to (unless you use software which which allows you to write on the whole screen rather than on the graffiti area).
I rarely change my WriteRight (in fact, I have a few left from the pack I ordered when I was using a PalmPilot Pro!). I stick a piece of Scotch #811 3/4" removable Magic tape over the WriteRight to cover the graffiti area and change this tape every other week. The added bonus of using the scotch tape is that it gives a "feel" of writing on paper, rather than on a slippery plastic surface.

Depending on your level of tolerance, you may not sense the need to either change the WriteRight (WR) or use a piece of scotch tape. I typically keep a WR fixed for three months or more before replacing it, and I do not use scotch tape. After those three months, the WR has a mottled, worn-down appearance, but it doesn't bother me, and it doesn't affect seriously screen clarity nor stylus inputs. It just depends on how much mileage you want to squeeze out of them. As they're pretty pricey, I want to squeeze as much out of my WR as I can.
