I have seen a travel charger for the Prism for sale on Ebay. Runs on 4 AA batteries. Does anyone have this? Any comments? It looks kind of flimsy in the picture. Any risk in using this and somehow damaging my prism?

The one you reference is a little different. The one on Ebay, which sells for $24.95 appears to only be powered by batteries and the battery pack connects directly to the Prism. The one you reference can be used with batteries or with power supply - more versatile, but more expensive ($34).

Anyone using the battery only one?

Doug, where on E-bay? I'd love to have a charger that ATTACHES directly to Prism. Hey, I gotta spend two weeks in a tent in Australia, an attached power supply would be WAY more convenient than a battery pack connected via cord. I wanna see this thing.

Almost the same except the Talestuff product can be powered by your cradle power supply or by the battery case.

It looks like the one on e-bay has a molded connector that you cannot use with your power supply.

Ignoring the diff between the ebay one and talestuff, I ordered the Talestuff battery pack, and it works just fine. No problems. Great idea. The only question is why Handspring couldn't have thought of it.

Got One!

I ordered the one on Ebay (from seller "ghvc") - got it last week and tried it today. Seems to work fine. You open the battery holder with a little phillips screwdriver - can use the one in the deluxe stylus. Insert 4 AA batteries and close the battery holder. Attach the connector to the Prism - the connector has little tab buttons to hold it securely - then turn on the charger. The greeen charge light on the Prism blinked for a while and eventually stopped. Removed the charger and I had a rechaged prism. I'm happy. I will take this on trips with spare AA's so I never have to worry about the Prism dying on me. Plus - the reason I like this solution better than the Handspring Travel Charger is that I can use this on a plane or while sitting in an airport. Plus if travelling overseas, no concern about power converters.

I have no connection with the seller - just wanted to report a "review" of the product. Also, BTW, he shipped immediately Priority Mail, so only took a few days to get it.

The battery operated talestuff travel charger I got is light and does not require a cradle.

Nor for that matter does the ac-adapter sold by handspring.

I like to have both. Obviously, the battery operation is the ultimate fail safe--unless you run out of batteries. It's nice to use electricity where available and batteries when you have to.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious to me Mark. I wasn't looking/reading close enough at the TaleStuff website. It looked to me like it was using the cradle because of that connector with the hole just like the one that's on the cradle. I didn't realize that it was their own cable would could hookup a battery pack or the cradle's power supply. I wish I had known this much sooner because then this would be good for me. As it stands now, I already own a Handspring travel charger, so the Ebay charger is the better deal for me than buying the TaleStuff charger. For people just looking though, the TaleStuff looks like quite a bargain. 1 Charger Kit @ $34.00 or 1 Handspring charger @ $35 + Ebay charger @ $25. *sigh* We live and we learn.

I am making the adaptor that lets you plug in your cradle power supply to to Prism for $15 + $3 s&h. Send me an e-mail if interested. You can also use a car adaptor to charge while in the car. Works great.

Blink then no blink

Got my travel charger last week. Took it on a trip and I have a few questions. it would charge the Prism for a while then light would not blink, OK I thought the Prism was full. It was only about 75%. Hit the rest button then tried to charge again this time it charged for a little while longer and got to about 90%. I did not change the batteries or anything. . . is this normal? If so is there a better way to make it charge until full?
