Innogear question

Ok, I like their nice package with speakers/headphones, whatever.

Question is about their (and everyone else's) MMC cards.

Are they interchangeable with the other MMC cards out there?

One (or more) of the Cassiopeas use MMC cards. Palm's use MMC cards. Innogear's MP3 player uses them. Can I buy a Casio one, and use it in an Innogear MP3 player?

Maybe this is a dumb question, but it wouldn't be the first time multiple companies use the same TLA for similar, but sufficiently different products.

InnoGear MMC Cards

4Wheeler,

Any brand MMC cards will work with the MiniJam. Also, the MMC cards that InnoGear sells will work with any other type of product

Yes, but isn't the Minijam's formatting for the MMC different than other devices'? So while cards are usable between different devices, they may need reformatting each time you want to switch?

usonian2001,

I think you are correct, the MMC cards need to be reformatted ... But that's no big deal. Very easy to do.

It could be like the CF cards I use with my Camera/MP3 Player, they use different formats, but when they format them all they do is place a directory on the card for their files to be placed in. I use the same CF cards for both and they work fine. Maybe the MMC cards will be the same as well.

Unfortunately, not in this case. The MiniJam formats the card using an incompatible filing system (to store more information I believe.) It does not use the FAT system which most other card readers, cameras and adapters use. So the MemPlug cards will not be readable on other devices. They will be usable if you reformat them with whatever other device you use (but of course you would lose the information on them.)

Fare thee well
