Exclamation

I am going on a study abroad program to Hong Kong in January. Of course, my number one concern is... how will I ever survive without a desktop computer? I am thinking about picking up a second hand laptop; but I am also very attracted to the idea of leaving it all behind and taking only my Visor Dlx and Stowaway

I've only begun to think about all the problems this will cause. Has anyone had luck syncing in your college computer labs, how do you approach this? I figure I will put a lot of use in on WordSmith or MegaDoc or some similar program. Any luck reading e-mail attachments? I guess I will have to do all of my coding in a lab, but that's okay. I think this project would be easier if we had a wired ethernet module but oh well.

How do you use your Visor for all of your computing needs? Could you possibly be a student for a full semester with only a PDA?

Isn't there a website you can synch to? I seem to recall reading bout that here somewhere. Then all you'd need to bring (in addtion to the Visor and Stowaway) is a sync cable.
I'd recommend a backup module, too.

I use Multimail Pro with my PLAT and a Thinmodem Plus. Multimail has plugins that will handle a number of e-mail attachment types (Word, ZIP, PRC, PDB, CSV, TXT, WAV, etc.). I have had no problems reading Word documents attached to e-mail. I wish they had a PDF plugin.

Here is a link for MultiMail Pro.

Hope that this helps. I would also strongly recommend the backup module.

I use Documents to Go and along with word/excel viewing/editing functions, it has an email attachement app included.

They have a free trial here:

I know that you can sync to http://www.palm.net and it is free. It doesn't support all of the advanced features of DateBook+ but I have used it some and I like it.
