Wanted: Digital Camera

I need a good digital camera for selling items on ebay, but at this time I can't fund anything over $150.00. Any suggestions? Or does anyone have a good used one for sale. I have tried two from Target, cheap, but both won't work.A Poloroid, and a Jam Cam. So I'm on the hunt.

Thanx for your help in advance.

Kodak DC 215

For the first time since its introduction three years ago the Kodak DC215 Millenium has had its price slashed from $300 to $159 as the company rolls out new models. The DC215 was Kodak's best selling digital camera...it is a 1.1 Megapixel unit...picture quality is excellent, and it is user friendly. Comes with an 8MB CompactFlash card and a USB CF Cardreader.

We have four or five digital cameras around the office, including a new Olympus 4.3 Megapixel, and the DC215 is still the camera everyone fights for to take home on weekends.

Over the past four years I have used a couple of dozen different cameras, and one comment I will make is that if you have an ounce of experience with Photoshop you can balance out the best and the worst (given similar pixel count)in terms of brightness and color quality almost instantly. The reviews in magazines are highly subjective, and a little work in Photoshop, tweaking the colors to your liking, fine tuning brightness etc, almost always yield satisfactory results.

Never buy anything with only 640x480 resolution. Optical zoom is everything, digital zoom is nothing (digital zoom merely increases pixel size, doing nothing to advance resolution within the frame).

$150 ought to get you something web publishing worthy....

I am using an Argus DC3000- their 'entry level' model (http://www.arguscamera.com/products.htm#DIGITAL). I paid about $70 for it at 800.com (I think). It uses 4 or 8 Meg SM cards, and is perfect for my small needs.

I DO use Photoshop and other programs to 'clean up' my shots- makes a WORLD of difference! Even the 'quick fix' feature helps a lot usually.

By the way- where can I find the Kodak DC215 for $159? Most sites seem to be listing it at $250 or more, although the bid sites and an Amazon reconditioned are under $200.

This is kinda funny, unless you happen to be in the market for a DC215. I was racking my brain trying to remember where, in the past few days, I had seen the DC215 for $159. I knew I wasn't mistaken on either the product or price; I gave a long pause as I considered it as a "spur of the moment" purchase. Then it hit me. I hadn't seen it online, I had happened across it in the window display of a downtown camera store.

Half.com has it for $189, though I suspect if one specialty shop is unloading them at $159 they are not alone. Check a brick & mortar retailer. Geesh. A year ago I couldn't even imagine giving such advice!

if you dont really care too much about great quality why not just go with a web cam, you can get a decent one for less than 100.00 I think and with enough supplied light you can get a good picture of a product. My roomate uses my web cam to put stuff on ebay, the pictures come out fine. I think I paid about 70.00 for the web cam.

Here are the links to his auctions that he used a webcam for...

did you buy a digicam yet? keep going back to target and look for clearance items. they've had lots of 1 megapixel fuji finepix digicams (models 1200 & 1300) for $99 in the past as well as the olympus digicams for under $150. now, both the fuji and the olympus were several months ago, but target frequently has clearance items.
