Kodak DC 215
For the first time since its introduction three years ago the Kodak DC215 Millenium has had its price slashed from $300 to $159 as the company rolls out new models. The DC215 was Kodak's best selling digital camera...it is a 1.1 Megapixel unit...picture quality is excellent, and it is user friendly. Comes with an 8MB CompactFlash card and a USB CF Cardreader.
We have four or five digital cameras around the office, including a new Olympus 4.3 Megapixel, and the DC215 is still the camera everyone fights for to take home on weekends.
Over the past four years I have used a couple of dozen different cameras, and one comment I will make is that if you have an ounce of experience with Photoshop you can balance out the best and the worst (given similar pixel count)in terms of brightness and color quality almost instantly. The reviews in magazines are highly subjective, and a little work in Photoshop, tweaking the colors to your liking, fine tuning brightness etc, almost always yield satisfactory results.
Never buy anything with only 640x480 resolution. Optical zoom is everything, digital zoom is nothing (digital zoom merely increases pixel size, doing nothing to advance resolution within the frame).
$150 ought to get you something web publishing worthy....
