 Red, White, and Blue Thursday

If this has already been posted, I apologize. At work today, I had an email forwarded to me that is asking for every American to wear red, white, and blue on Thursday and to drive with your headlights on in the morning and afternoon to honor those who lost their lives yesterday. The email said that it would be circulated across the country, so some of you may know about it. However, I decided to go ahead and post it here for those who didn't receive it.

With all due respect to the situation that is going on, how does driving with your headlights on memorialize what has happened?

Sounds like a silly chain letter to me...

They asked the same thing on australian radio too.
I always drive with my lights on (safety thing) so I left them on...

I heard that there was a computer email virus going around called "Red, White & Blue"...but I'm off to buy a flag to fly at the house.

It is an important show of solidarity to the rest of the world, and a big effort to show support for and among each other. It is part of the healing process. I for one went and pressed 200 little buttons last night and have been giving them away to folks at work so everybody is wearing a little button with the American flag on it.

My manager came to me earlier this morning and asked me if she could have another one, because she gave hers to a woman who started crying when she saw the button.

Again, I have to ask, how does driving with your headlights on show solidarity to the rest of the world?

I can think of a million things that would show that better. Volunteer in your community. Get involved with politics. Talk to you neighbors. Stick up for the under-privileged. Fight poverty. etc.

Passing on a silly chain email does nothing.

Besides, as ToolKIT points out, you SHOULD always be driving with your lights on anyways.

I didn't hear about that until I got to achool that day, but luckily I was wearing a red white and blue Ralph Lauren shirt, that actually had the american flag on it. I did it all by accident.

We heard late at work (guess we're the only lucky people in the world that are not on anyone's chain mail list) and wore flag colors on Friday. All I had were some boxers! I opted not to wear my pants hanging off my rear..
