Toby, everybody, we gotta lose the edge

I've come to my conclusion, I'm going to email Handspring and ask them to replace it with another handheld. I don't want to reset my Edge twice a week. I don't want to lose any important data. I don't want to talk bad about Handspring. All I want is a reliable PDA that will work all the time. I've had the Edge for about two months now and I've pretty much lost all my confidence in it.

Have you guys also realized how the little stylus holster unscrews itself? I've already lost the screw. Just a number of defects.

I've also waited for that damn keyboard to come out, still hasn't happened. This is not cool.

Wonderful advice, except for one thing: when the Edge does the digitizer thing, there's no way to enter _anything_ other than a menu tap. If one could enter a . 3, then one probably wouldn't be experiencing the same problem.

Hmph...another one bites the dust. I'm really torn at this point between a Handera and getting a Neo with a Dave Design aluminum case. At this point, I'm almost wishing I'd just gotten one of those for my old Visor Deluxe. Other than its case, it was rock solid.

Honestly, go for the Handera. It's cheap. CF is fast. Voice Recording. Jog Dial. And so on.

If you're going to have the big form, you might as well get the big form done right. I have found myself wishing my prism was a handera many times....

If Handera made that thing color, they would kill...

I'm leaning toward a neo, if only because it has everything my edge did. I even have the rechargeable batteries for it. And at $200, I'll have enough left over to buy a keyboard. In fact, the more I think about it, the more it sounds like a good idea. HS's reputation has still been taken down a notch in my estimation, though. I might go with a Palm m50x.

Regardless, at least I'll know I'm not buying a dead end device - which is the impression I've been getting from HS regarding the edge.

The only thing making me hesitant is the whole serial sync thing. OTOH, there is always the wired ethernet option, but that raises the initial cost.

Actually, I think a Deluxe/Neo/whatever with an aluminum case _would_ be a big form done pretty right (provided it was reliable). The niggling problem I still have with the Handera is the same as the day it was released: the faceplate reminds me too muhc of my Casio E-11.

Color screen and an all black/graphite case, and they'd have my money with no hesitation.

[B]At this point, it isn't looking positive for a Handspring device. I turned the thing off after the hard reset last night and stuck it into my backpack to call tech support this morning. It was fully charged (according to the charging LED when I took it out of the cradle).

I have the same problem - the PDA "thinks" its charged, but it's not and "realizes" this as soon as I press a function key. It's aggravating because it makes it almost impossible to charge effectively. Handspring has been little or no help.
