Thincom contacted me after reading a post about troubles I had with the software on the Thincom modem. They asked for some specifics, and offered some tips.

So this company seems to be at least listening and paying attention to its customers! I think there ought to be some kind of list kept of those that do. I would nominate Thincom and GeoDiscovery. Any comments?

i know it's in vogue to hate innogear, but way back in february, they were the first company to make their presence known on vc, and were highly lauded for it.

oh how fickle we are.

Not that anyone mentioned them by name, but actually, Innogear announced the product at Internet World in October. Unfortunately, the company can't retroactively un-announce the product (they didn't pre-announce the InnoPak/2V -- lesson learned), but it's not our fault that it was announced prematurely.

But if there are indeed 4000 springboard developers out there, as Handspring claims, then that means that most of them aren't saying a word until they have an actual product to ship. That's the way it should be.

I am actually thinking more about ongoing communication than simple announcements, the latter being one way.
