Somewhere in the Visor menu system there is a place
to tell it what kind of batteries are installed.
I've hunted all over and can't find it. Where in
tarnation is it?

Go into memopad and graffiti:

This will toggle [Nicad][Rechargeable]and [Alkaline]

The Visor 3.1OS doesn't directly support NiMH's (that came in v3.3???). Use the setting for NiCAD as the share the same characteristics for voltage, etc.

Lightbulb Am I missing something?

I tried to change the battery type but it's not doing anything.

I have gone into memopad and done (shortcut) ..7
I have also done it from inside a memo.

Both times nothing happened.

Am I doing something wrong?

make sure you're doing a shortcut, double tap (to create ONE period), and the number seven.

When I do this on my Ice Deluxe, it only says [Other]. Repeated shorcut, dot, sevens just bring up more [Other]s. It never rotates between the battery types. Wonder why...

The Visor doesn't automatically recogonize which type batteries are inserted? I've inserted rechargeable alkalines in the past and haven't noticed any difference. Can you tell me the importance of doing this shortcut command? Also - is there a way to upgrade to 3.3 if i have 3.1?

Thanks,
Mark

The shortcut sets the battery info so that the OS can report the proper battery voltage, etc. Alkalines have different profiles than NiCad or NiMH's (which are very similar) when it comes to max voltage and the low voltage warning levels that the OS uses. NiMH's and NiCad's warn at a higher voltage because their discharge rate is faster than an alkaline.

Not on a Visor
