Handspring's just made a couple of mistakes

They are, IMHO they are at least. As someone said on this board "Ive always considered Handspring a maverick in the PDA field, having cheaper and better products." I dont remember exactky what he/she said, but it was somewhere along that line. First Handspring comes out with a color unit which Jeff Hawkins hinted he did not see in Handspring's future. Then color has been available for the Palm for quite some time, so it has no new technology like the Visor deluxe did.

The whole color model really bothered me, so now instead of standing out as the company with the company with the funky colors, and slots in the back. It is slowly turning into a company just like Palm (which isn't neccesarily a bad thing mind you).

My next beef isnt with Handspring at all, but with OminSky. Why in the world did they make the module for platinum and prism only? Am I the only one who thinks that was an extremly bad idea for Handspring's business? Now everyone has to worry about if their module if compatible with that particular model or not. Just bugs me.

sorry 'bout this rant, just bored and wanted to vent about something. If you dont aggree with me great, if you do even better

and your justification for why Handspring is going downhill is...???

The fact that they've brought out a color model (that's better than Palm's)?

I think some people, and there are a few here, just like to complain...

Just ignore the subject, and if you like ignore the color thing too. But the ominsky thing seems pretty screwed up

Bleh I tried to fix it, but it didnt change the topic. Just the subject to the original post. So if you want a better subject go up to the first post in this thread and read the subject below the topic.

Probably because of the OS. The VDx can probably handle real-time surfing, but for PQAs, you need PalmOS 3.3 or above.

So with @ctiveLink, that makes two wireless solutions that have limited or no functionality on the VDx. Since I'm upgrading to a Prism, I'll never have used the Deluxe for the reason I got it over the Palm Vx in the first place.

Re: OmniSky

Regarding wireless access, why not just buy the Minstrel S directly from Novatel and get another CDPD carrier, like AT&T or Verizon? No one's forcing you to use OmniSky...

This is, of course, assuming that the module itself is compatible with the Visor and Visor Deluxe.

If the problem lies in the OS limitation re PQAs, then the carrier is irrelevant. Maybe that's not the problem after all, but I certainly wouldn't buy the module directly from Novatel without getting a few more facts.

Good point, I totally overlooked the OS change, oops!
