Angry

I have experienced troublesome problems with USB HotSyncing my VDX.

This problem happened with my first VDX, and I never found a solution. With my new one (needing a replacement is another story ), everything worked fine until this morning (about 2 weeks).

I successfully sync'ed last night before I left the office. This morning, I put the VDX in the cradle and pressed the button. Alas, the cradle was not connected to the laptop. I plugged in the cradle, and since then, nothing I try (reboot, soft reset) seems to let me HotSync again.

I have browsed other reports of Hotsyncing difficulties, and the only one that did not involve some conflicting software (I have litte installed) was solved with a soft reset. I am reluctant to perform a hard reset since -- I cannot do a hotsync first....

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Paul

This has occasionally happened to me and can be quite frustrating. I've found that this has worked for me. Not sure if it will work for you, but...

1. Disconnect your cradle
2. End Hotsync Manager
3. Soft Reset your Visor
4. Reconnect your cradle
5. Restart Hotsync Manager
6. Turn Visor On(*)
7. Drop Visor in cradle and
hotsync away

* I've found that if the Visor is on prior to starting the Hotsync it seems to work better. Purely anidotal evidence, but hey, Why not try it?

If this doesn't work, try putting this step in:

4.5 Reboot your host computer

Hope this helps...

Chris

Talking

The reboot everything option was still not working for me, but I dug deeper in the VisorCentral info and found a (the?) solution.

Sorry for not finding it before my posting (RTFM comes to mind), but the solution found in question II.C.4 of the VisorCentral FAQ was successful!

Thanks for the help,
Paul

I was having some hotsync problems for awhile too. I had to hold my VDX down in the cradle; just setting it in there wouldn't work. I took a pencil eraser and rubbed on the contacts on both my visor and the cradle, and now it works fine. I don't know how much this would help, but if all else fails, give it a try!
