Any thoughts?

ZDNET has a pic of the Sony PDA on their news site right now!

I've owned a lot of Sony products and doubt they would put out something that wasn't slick and appealing. Could be worth a look.

wow! I've generally liked Sony products (they helped my parents pay my way through school...mom works for sony ) So i can't wait to hear more about this PDA!

One thing that nobody has mentioned...
they say that Sony want's Audio/Video to play a major role with the PDA, and the memory stick should help transport all the memory required, but nobody has mentioned a speaker or headphone jack on the unit.
I'd guess that would clinch the rumour...

I guess we'll know in the next 2 days!

Thumbs down

The "color/wireless internet/Palm OS/under-$200" PDA Sony was talking about was just too good to be true. It looks like the company is playing the old MS trick of announcing vaporware to gauge consumer interest. I was hoping that Sony was going to bring something tangible to PC Expo beyond the Photoshop mock-up stage. According to the articles listed above, Sony hasn't even finalized the hardware details of the device, so don't expect anything until at least the end of the year.

Well I read the article on ZDnet, and this seems to good to be true, plus an under $200 dollar price tag - riduclus! - as I remember, PALM said that it would be impossible for a Palm V be color in that size, yet this PDA seems to be smaller and in color. Also it has all those mutimedia features - this is vaporware!

And Microsoft says Sony is "playing catch-up?!" Sheesh! Microsoft are the ones playing catch-up; at least Sony is using the Palm OS, which is well-established!
