Ok, time for more FUD. Called twice today. 1st time: Orders won't start shipping 'till Oct. 31, and the orders from 9/16 and before can't be changed as they are in shipping. ???

2nd Time: First come first serve, orders shipping on the 15th of Oct. (Still late from Hawkins' prediction, but wihtin limits.) Also, Website not expected to be back up until the 15th.

Just thought I'd share the love.

My story is even worse. I called today(on hold for what seemed like 10 hours) and received an etirely different answer than ever before.

The CSR said Visors are shipping out on October 31. But not to worry, because my 9/14 order will be among the first.

Take my advice. Have yourself a few beers before calling a CSR. It will numb the pain.

Unhappy

I called HS CSR today to order a serial cradle and the extra styli (I already have a Visor DLX see my post 'Visor Dlx first impressions'). I was told that serial cradles need a 4-6 week lead for shipping and that they were not taking any orders for the styli!

kinda sucks huh?

Dont' jump ship until at least this thursday. All the rumors flying around here have merely gotten us all jumpy. And like has been said around a thousand times. until November, Handspring has broken no commitments. The CSRs are giving out this info that doesn't jive. Not Handspring. Hawkins said two weeks. And until then we cannot start to worry. Take some advice that was posted. Go grab some drinks and sleep on it. Posting info that is rumor here is only going to grease the machine of impatience (that was a neat metaphor)

Exclamation

Brave New World: You can only order by phone. You get put on hold with the music/voice cutting out all the time so you think you've been cut off. The they tell you 4 to 6 weeks! I could get Sea Monkeys easier!!! But I want one anyway.

Unhappy

I think everyone will be receiving their Visors in November. I got the following article/rumor off a web site (www.palmstation.com). Man, I should have gotten a Palm IIIx or Vx, at least I know the store down the street has them in stock.

Visors Delayed in Shipping?

According to some people who have called Handspring, it looks like people who ordered
Visor's on the first day might not have them shipped till then end of October. They are
reporting "difficulties" and being overwhelmed with initial orders.

Personally I would just like Handspring to send an e-mail to people who have already
ordered to explain the delays. Most people would be happy with a short explanation, and
not being left in the dark....

Thumbs up

I just got off the phone with a CSR at Handspring. He said that my order (placed 9/14) should be shipping "within two or three days."

Of course, this is just another CSR story, but at least it's a favorable one.

If the visors doesn't ship until the end of October, then Handspring it still within their promise. The only OFFICIAL word I have heard from Handspring was that the visor would ship in October. I took this to mean October 29 (Which is the last friday in October just so I wouldn't be dissappointed). I do not consider the CSR's or even the interview with Hawkins to be the official word. Handspring is handling this is the best possible way. Would you rather Handspring tell you a date, and then not meet it? That would make everyone mad and not just the impatient ones. Don't get me wrong, I want mine as much as anyone else.

One other thing. STOP calling the CSR's. They don't know anything about shipping dates. We already proved that by the varied responses that we have recieved from them.

Nechasin,

I agree with a lot of your points... The posts on this board have proven that either the CSR's give varying messages to the customers or the customers interpret the messages from the CSR's differently. I can see both sides. However, there are a lot of varying stories on the posts.

I take Hawkins message, the CPO of Handspring, as an official announcement of Handspring. He is the CPO. If we can't trust what comes out of his mouth, then who can we trust? A PR person that works for him? Give me a break. Hawkins and Donna are the founders of Handspring.

Bottom line -- calling the CSR's will not help us get our Visor's sooner. I do think that emailing the appropriate person in Handspring will let them know our disapointment with their order fulfillment process. It's a shame that Handspring doesn't have their act together. Handspring is losing money since people are buying Palms, etc...

If Handspring doesn't ship by tommorrow, then they broke a promise. It's not the end of the world. Handspring has already broken their promise to email us confirmations. They are long overdue. I am excited like all of us. I am waiting patiently like most of us. I am also getting more and more annoyed with the company like most of us.

I know several people EMailed Frank Loefert(sp) yesterday only to hear that he is not the right person, I'm not sure who the "right" person is but I was given the following EMail address as "Customer Care" [email protected]. If anyones interested they responed very quickly to a problem I had with a order I had placed online.

I agree with gene, I am also a 9/14 order who is watching the IIIx prices drop like a stone. I want the added abilities of the Visor, but when the IIIx reaches more than $100 less, then I don't know what I will do.

Gene, FYI, I ordered my Visor online on Oct 7 and I got an emailed confirmation within an hour from Handspring showing "estimated ship date" of October. The online order form had said Oct 31. So, as far as I'm concerned, I won't have anything to gripe about until after Oct 31.

I'm a fairly late comer to VisorCentral. I keep hearing about this Oct. 15 date that Hawkins said the visor would ship by. Can you give me the link to the source? The only things I find say either shipping soon, or shipping in October. That is why I don't believe this Oct. 15 date

In case people missed my post in the "Frank Loeffler" thread his word is that the policy has always been "shipping in October" and there has _never_ been a specific date. He said that he was going to talk to the customer service manager about CSRs who have been giving out specific (and conflicting) dates.

Angry

I agree with Deji.
I orderded via phone the first day the Visor was available for sale. I also changed color. When I called , CR seemed confused, so I do not know what I will receive. If the site was up to snuff I will know what I am getting and when
To all those naysayers who are blowing smoke and tell me to be patient. I am in charge of the quality control dept of a large textile company and I gave our customers the run around I and others are getting, I would be dumped and I would deserve it. After all computing is about inforamtion and you can not get it or you receive mis-information, what good is it?
